Lampard would have hit it from 100metres.

As long as it was deflected.

    How was it?

Rooney on the face of it is spitting his dummy because he can't get in the side, Ronaldo left to fulfill a long held ambition to play for Real Madrid.

    How is that worse?

Ronaldos intentions were made obvious we all know his dream was to play for Real Madrid, we payed a minimal amount for him he helped us win a load of trophies and sold for 80mil.

Rooney wanting to leave with his new challenge nonsense sounds like to me he is after a bigger contract. Just like last time. Anyway if Rooney was to leave he won't be hated.

Ronaldo didn't care who he played for, he just wanted to move to Spain.

Every summer he used the media saying how unhappy he is and wanted to move... Whereas Rooney did it in private and both times the club were the ones who made it public.

    Ronaldo a 'slave' on 150k+ p/w lol.

Cristiano Ronaldo's desire to join Real Madrid appeared stronger than ever last night after a television interview in which he reiterated he had not changed his mind about wanting to leave Manchester United and agreed with the Fifa president Sepp Blatter's criticism about the way the European Cup winners had handled the situation. Blatter had urged United to allow the player to leave and, more controversially, complained that there was "too much modern slavery" in the sport.

Blatter, an honorary member of Real Madrid with close ties to the club's president, Ramón Calderón, had described himself as "very much in sympathy" with Ronaldo and urged United to allow him to leave, suggesting it was otherwise tantamount to slavery. "I agree with what he said," said Ronaldo, when that last point was put to him. "It's true. I agree with what the president of Fifa said. I know what I want and what I would like. We have to see what happens. I do not know where I will begin next season."

Ronaldo's ambition wasn't to play for real Madrid, heck, he would of played for Barcelona.

"I should get out of Manchester as the circumstances are not right," he said.

"Nobody stood up for me and my desire is to play in Spain. Will it be Real or Barcelona? It will be one of them."

Ronaldo also claimed: "For some time I haven't had any support from my chief executive (David Gill) or my coach (Sir Alex Ferguson). They should have come out in my defence but no-one did.

no one here hates Rooney, we all still and always will love Wazza.

Sir Alex said Rooney has decided to think this over his mind, Gary neville said he'll have a word with Rooney in england training.

I still believe Rooney will stay and Man utd will not sell him, Sir Alex did say Rooney should start thinking about being here next season because he will be here.

i believe in Wazza and so should all of you. At the end of the day Rooney will stay at Man utd. Mark my words he'll end up staying.

You also said with the same level of assurance that Fergie wasn't retiring... hours before it was announced...

There's no way you can be 100% sure unless you know Rooney himself? And tbf I'm not even sure he knows himself how this is going to pan out.

To be fair to Ronnie that was a proper ambush question. A journo basically asked him "Blatter has said Utd should let you leave if you want to, do you agree?" Ronaldo said yes, as would any player in the same position who had requested a transfer, the media then put the slave comment in his mouth.

It wasn't great, and he should have thought twice about saying it, but it was nowhere near as bad as Rooney's public claims that he was unsatisfied with the club's ambition. Tho either way the club won out in the end, with another league title and £80m from Ronnie and another two from Rooney so I personally don't hold a grudge against either of them.
