Yeah, he was a supposed to be a new signing for us at the end of last season as well. Trouble was he was shyte!
An Oli that feels wanted will do a good job for us; put him in the midfield, NickP up front, Fyatt running off and between them and two vety nippy wingers, then we present one hell of a threat - it also leaves us a bench that can come in and play havoc with a defence that will be pulled to hell and back. A massive improvement would be the ariel threat in the box - Oli and NickP would disrupt the back four, the Hobbits could knock in the loose balls. And then there is Koren waiting for the laid back ball somewhere between 20m and 30m; if it doesn't scare the hell out of you, it will the opposition! Fingers crossed it all happens!
Just because a player does well at one club doesn't mean he wll do well at another. Surely we all know that by now? In any case if you go and ask the Cardiff fans what they thought of him, I think you will find more than a few of them that would describe him as anything but a success. The guy had one decent moment for us and that was it. He just aint good enough!
Echo that comment - Oli is simply not good enough. My opinion is that for his size he should be a midfield destroyer, but unfortunately he has no first touch, a weak tackle and his head drops.
Are people seriously still really thinking olifinjana will do it for us????? what does he bring exactly? Cant mark or track runners, pulls out of headers and tackles, he can pass a bit and thats it. masssssive waste of wages one of the worst if not the worst signing ever made by hull city move on please you make yourselfs look silly constantly wanting him as an option
Shame he doesn't divide defences in the same way. (sorry but it was an obvious set up) Why are people so insistent Olofinjana is a defensive midfielder and should be crunching players? Just because he's big? The season he had that first attracted us to him he scored 14 goals for Wolves. Given he seems to be woeful in the air it's probably safe to assume that they were mainly from open play, so if he's played higher up the field he's a better player.
I think he was indifferent overall. He got very mixed reviews from Cardiff fans. Oli is just too soft. Everyone says Cairney is too weak to be in our midfield but on the evidence shown last season Oli is worse, he doesn't get into tackles and even though he is massive he doesn't use it any more than Cairney. I'm pleased to see that people are starting to realise now that Oli is not a defensive midfielder though.
Precisely, I'm saying he can provide the attacking element in midfield. As it looks likely we'll play 442, with 2 forwards and 2 wingers, it looks like 2 central slots will be a fight between Olofinjana/ McKenna/ Cairney/Evans/Koren (Dudgeon can play MF) plenty of depth for just 2 places.
With a full pre-season under his belt you never know he might find form, however if we can offload him I think we will
