Actually, I think Rade's great moment came in a league cup game, his first. Absolutely horrible afterwards.
I'm with BB Marco was my favourite, SKP was the best. I just missed seeing Cloughie, I can remember my parents waxing lyrical about him though. And I agree with BK on Goodman some days he looked World class, but he suffered from lack of delivery a lot of the time. A lot of his goals were from his shear hard work.
Don Goodman was also a hero of mine, an outstanding professional who gave his all every game, must have been a managers dream.
Pop robson, Ally mCcoist, Gary rowell, Marco. Supporters used to joke "here come the german sub (u boat) " with Hauser. I also liked Frank Worthington used to do some funny things on the pitch, I think he retired at about 50 years old !
I loved John Byrne. So smooth. Couldn't get away with a Barnet like that now. Although nobody told Gerry Francis
For the record, Rowell was a midfielder who just happened to score a hell of a lot of goals and was the best SAFC penalty taker I have ever saw. Marco was lightening fast and is up there with the most exciting players I have ever witnessed in the famous red and white stripes..
Trying to pick someone out who hasn't been mentioned. Stephen Elliot and Kieran Brady both show flashes of genius, both scored crackers. Speaking of crackers, **** striker but boy what a goal, garnished a treat with Andy Reid's pass. Vic Haloms screamer against Citeh in the replay at Roker in 73 is burnt into my brain. I'm off to see if I can find it.
Easier to find than I thought. Probably the best game I watched at RP.
That video doesn't do the atmosphere of that night justice...I remember reading one of the papers next day where the reporter said he walked round the ground afterwards to see if there was hidden microphones because he had never heard noise like it in his life..
