. No, I suggested Helguson and Campbell because whilst they may have played regularly, been injured but now recovered, they still won't get in the starting 11 as since their injuries QPR have signed Zamora and Cisse. They also have Bothroyd and Mackie (The Striker) in reserve. Now i'm guessing here, but i'd say Cisse and Zamora (both having been signed by Hughes are first choice) 2 further strikers in reserve would definitely leave 1 maybe 2 available for loan. All largely irrelevant, but nevertheless I felt it important to point it out.
Mackie hasn't played upfront and is not being classed as a striker. Adam Pearson himself has said we will not break the wage structure so what part of that do you not understand? Where not signing anyone, so theres no point discussing it.
Source? Jamie Mackie is a recognised striker, as is Aaron McClean. He might not play there, but he is a recognised striker. Apologies for being pedantic, but every ****ing source tells you he's a striker, QPR fans I know tell me he's a striker, and he finished one season as the clubs leading scorer. He may well be a victim of his own versatility, that doesn't mean he isn't a striker. Wiki tells you he's a striker, as does Soccerbase and QPRs own website, now tell me he's not a striker? How do you know if signing players on loan from another club break a 'wage structure'? I didn't realise you had connections with the FA, oh you haven't! There was a budget available, but NB decided not to spend it, a mistake IMHO. Like Phil Jones a recognised defender, because of his versatility, he plays in midfield too. His preferred position = defender. http://mobile.qpr.co.uk/runtime/qpr/player?playerId=29586 Above is a link to the QPR website player profile of Jamie Mackie. Position Striker Thanks and happy to help The End
Time will tell whether not taking on another recognised striker will finally damage our promotion hopes. It seems to have worked well so far for Reading taking of Jason Roberts, lets hope NB decision on this proves to be correct.
Jamie Mackie played as a striker for Exeter, then did the same at Plymouth. When Plymouth brought in a new striker, they wanted to keep Mackie in the team so moved him out to the wing to accomodate him, where he excelled. But his favoured position is up front, or on the right hand side of a front three. and that's the story of Mr Mackie. Mmmmmkaay? mmmkay.
I didn't say he couldn't be a striker. I said QPR play him in midfield, so he doesn't influence the availability of strikers by pushing them down the pecking order. It's really not that difficult to understand: Zamora and Cisse - starting line up Campbell and Helguson - subs bench when fit (they still have 7 subs remember) Mackie and Tommy Smith (yeah he can play up front as well) - are being used by QPR as midfielders, either in the team or from the bench. If they have to become strikers for cover then their squad is lacking cover in midfield. None of those 6 will be available for loan. Of the rest: Bothroyd - 1st reserve striker, been involved due to the injuries to Campbell and Helguson and Cisse's suspension. Won't be available until Helguson and Campbell have shown they're properly back in case he's needed there, Campbell in particular has had one injury after another this season. When he is available he's so close to the matchday squad we'd have to pay his full wages. He joined QPR in the PL on a free transfer, he's managed to get an England cap whilst playing outside the PL, and was at the top end of the scorers table in the Championship last season. He is not in budget. Hulse, Agyemang, and Vine - not good enough.
Whatever position he comes on in, he would still be considered a striker and therefore in the same pool of players as Zamora/Cisse/Helguson/Campbell/Bothroyd et al I love your sweeping statements..."they'll be out of budget", "they won't be available for loan". You don't know that, nor do I. No, it's not that difficult to understand is it? GK: Paddy Kenny D: Nedum Onuoha D: Anton Ferdinand D: Clint Hill D: Samuel Ricketts D: Armand Traore M: Shaun Derry M: Samba Diakite M: Joey Barton M: Shaun Wright-Phillips F: Djibril Cisse F: Bobby Zamora Cerny, Gabbidon, Bothroyd, Mackie, Buzsaky, Young, Taiwo Starting 11 in the last game v Bolton and subs....4-4-2, not 4-2-3-1 like us. I'm not annoyed, I think it's a missed opportunity. I listed 'some' players, not exhaustive. You simply have as much idea as me as to whether they're available or not. Regardless of bench status.
No. You were previously trying to say he was ahead of Helguson and Campbell in terms of selection. You may as well say that Stewart is ahead of Fryatt in the selection process and should be considered a striker even when he's on the wing because he can play up front and is starting whilst Fryatt has been on the bench for the last 2 games. It's bollocks, Mackie is not being considered for the front two positions by QPR's management, they're looking at Zamora with Helguson covering him, and Cisse with Campbell covering him. Rather than you getting annoyed that we're not signing machday squad players from PL sides can we just agree to moan like **** that Roberts has scored another bloody goal for Reading today?
It was under Warnock in a 4231, he carried on at left wing under Hughes in a 442 before being benched. And I said Mackie had had the odd game as a 2nd striker alongside Zamora, but that would be due to Cisse having been suspended, and Helguson and Campbell having both been injured. We need someone to play as a lone striker, Mackie and Smith are not suitable for that and aren't ahead of the other options at QPR as far as playing as a striker goes. If we decide to play with more than 1 up front we've got enough options for the role they can play, it's the bigger targetman type we need. QPR have 3 players in that bracket that would be good enough, Zamora, Helguson, and Bothroyd. The first is in the starting lineup, the second is injured and when fit will be on their bench and playing a part as their top scorer, and Bothroyd isn't going to have used his position as a free agent to sign for peanuts. No you're right, PL clubs are always going "we're in a relegation battle, the player is in our team/on our bench, and we can't sign a replacement because the transfer window is closed, but as it's you and you asked really nicely we'll let you have them" or "we're in a relegation battle and if we get one injury they're going to be in our squad on a matchday, but we'll let you have them for 1/3 of their wages". (and that's conservative for Bothroyd's wages given even Vine is on over £20k). Someone like Reading (since the takeover) or West Ham (as they don't have a budget) might be able to get hold of them, but they'll be paying way more than we're prepared to or should agree to. Oh I forgot Macheda in the list of their strikers as well - not playing, but we can't have him as he's on a season long loan which means he can only play for QPR's first team or anybody else's reserves until June.
