I've never understood the point in saying 'just saying like' at the end of a sentence.. I mean, it's not like we expected it to be in the form of dance..
To me it just makes it look like the person is trying to put down the other person's opinion, and I know it's not always being used like that.
Erm, a different option which we don't currently have. A ll these players haven't played for their current club recently. There's stacks more, probably players that aren't even in the 25 man squad. Nile Ranger - Another one. Helgusson may have been the 'Top Scorer' but since Hughes arrived, he's signed Cisse and Zamora. Mackie seems to be his favoured substitute attacking player. It's not MY job to identify targets, that's the club, which they should have done, as despite Tuesdays amazing result we are lightweight up front, and our in house alternatives of Simpson/Adebolla/Garcia are seemingly out in the wilderness leaving Sparce choice for the striker role.
Correct, mine was reciprocated at Tickler, as an acknowledgement of his attempted put down. It is not something I use.
Dobbie is the same as what we've got. There's Fryatt, McLean, Stewart, and Simpson if we're pushed by injuries can all be put up front and offer us the same as him. If we're going to sign someone and commit wages it should be somebody who actually offers us variation. Goodwillie and Davies were on the bench for their last games, relegation threatened sides are not going to let people on their bench go unless they have to, it'd be like us in a promotion battle turning round and sending Dudgeon out without bothering to get a replacement (because they can't with the window shut). Tuncay has played in a significant number of games this season so won't be available within the budget. Fuller must have played since he got sent off for stamping. Mackie has been coming on for Taarabt and Buzsaky from what I can see, that's a midfield change. Helguson is also injured though which explains his lack of bench time behind Zamora. Pardew has already said that Ranger won't be going out on loan again. I can't find the actual article but here's a Newcastle forum talking about it: http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=386&fid=185&sty=2&act=1&mid=2115636756 There's virtually nobody who isn't in 25 man squads, if there's a space for a player they have to be named and not a lot of teams have full squads, we covered it at the end of January when they submitted them. You're right it's not your job to identify targets, but if you're going to complain about the club not signing someone you should have the person in mind rather than a list of PL subs benchers and injured players. I've been more critical than most about us not signing a striker in January, but having gone through the normal transfer window (when PL clubs could have signed replacements before selling fringe players and we could have raided rivals in this division) I don't see any options out there that will be available at a sensible price and improve on what we've got, so I'm not criticising them for not signing someone now. It's done with until the summer and we have to live or die by our 'failure to add to the squad in January.
Helguson and DJ Campbell both last played mid jan. They have got Cisse, Zamora Bothroyd ahead of them and Mackie that soccerbase have listed as a forward. Dobbie is 11st plus and 5'8" with a career goal scoring record of a goal every other game. http://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=35703 News In: Swansea team scales are broken: Davies last featured for Bolton over a month ago (Kevin not Mark) There's Rob Hulse. Piquionne from West Ham was a great signing by Donny, but we won't get players from promotion rivals. Peter Lovenkrands would be brilliant - he's only played 3 times since Jan. Chelsea have some squad players that haven't played a game this season.
Helguson and DJ Campbell are both injured. Soccerbase might well have Mackie as a forward. It doesn't change the fact that all last season (until he broke his leg) he was playing in the same system we play and was used as one of the 3 behind the striker, or the fact that he's been coming on for midfielders in games this season, recently either to partner Zamora or play in the midfield behind him, and not to play on his own up front. Not according to the Swansea website he's not. http://www.swanseacity.net/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10354~7201,00.html He was on the bench last game. What ever reason he wasn't featuring appears to have changed. Either he's been injured or someone else has got injured. Either way he's in and around their first team and they're not going to be keen to loan him out when they can't bring someone else in.
He might well play in the 3 behind the 1, but every single reference points to Mackie as a striker, whether he plays in goal, serves the hot dogs or drives the team bus - he is still a bloody striker!
I'm bored now, the point is we need a striker, strikers are available, but we haven't acted. I only hope it doesn't hinder our play off attempt.
A couple of the players mentioned above we have looked at, but clubs don't seem to have many attacking players they're keen to move out and as a consequence, none of the players we've looked at were available on subsidised wages. Assem won't pay players double what our other players are on and as a consequence, we didn't get any of them.
Of the ones you mention Only Davies and Helgusson would do for me. Fuller is a loose cannon as was seen @ Chelsea last week and the rest... No thanks,,, imo. By the way Kevin Davies is out of contract in the summer and would be another good signing and transfer fee free for next season for us.
That reason alone sounds far enough to me. Many of the names mentioned will be available in the summer anyway If not on a Free transfer but on a knock down price to get rid.
Years back i collared Kevin's dad, Freddie Parrot Face Davies in the car park at Brid Spa. Would your lad fancy coming to Hull i said. Of course said Freddie but only for thentimental reasons!! True story.
He may be capable of playing as a striker, but as you pointed out he's in QPR's plans, so they're not going to let him go are they? Now I pointed out he's used more a midfielder because you said he was an option ahead of Helguson and Campbell that was stopping them playing. You suggested them because they haven't played recently. They haven't played recently because they're injured. It doesn't matter when they're back from injury because they're expecting to be in the matchday squad once they're fit. We'd probably stand more chance of getting Bothroyd from them (if it weren't for his stupidly high wages) but he's not going to be available until they're sure about Helguson and/or Campbell being back. Campbell has been one thing after another this season with injuries and illness. By the time he's available and proven his fitness the loan window will have shut. I agree we need a striker. Strikers WERE available but we didn't act in time to get them at suiitable prices, they're no longer available to us on Championship money. I agree, I hope it doesn't stop us going up.
Put in a cheeky loan bid for Billy Sharp. Seems to be struggling to settle down south and I doubt we,ll catch the top 3,
For an update - The club weren't impressed with Parnaby in training or for the reserves so I can't see him signing now. Surprised me a little but there you go.
