Bruce's appointment was similarly unfortunately timed, but for whatever reason(s) he has made a better fist of it. Timing of appointment is not the only factor impacting on successful outcomes.
And so he had all his players in and his backroom staff in and the players he didn't fancy all sorted between June 29th and early July then?
Earlier on you were claiming being appointed in August meant he didn't have a preseason because it starts in July. He could have been appointed the day after the final game of the season and he wouldn't have had any more time to assess the existing squad because they'd be on holiday.
I didn't 'claim', I said I recalled from memory it was August time. I didn't adopt an embattled and entrenched tone about it, so no point in attempting to make it seem as if I did, 'Ricardo'...... I note you don't answer my last question, so I (and anyone else still awake) will draw my own conclusions on that.
You claimed he didn't have a proper opportunity because he was appointed late, and then said you thought it was in August. The point is he had the same opportunity to his job that Steve Bruce had this season, because neither of them could assess their players until preseason training began. To save you checking, Bruce was appointed at the beginning of June, but didn't make a signing until July (Amos loan) so that would be after Parky's appointment.
We've discussed this point already. Parkinson is not Bruce and vice versa. Because one manager fares better than another doesn't make any difference to the point being made. Now. Do you think Parky had a proper and ideal start to the job ?
Yes within reason he did. He joined with plenty of time to sort out his back room and playing staff. You could argue that it wasn't ideal because you could always find ways to improve it, like he could have had a bigger transfer/wage budget and things like that. But there was nothing to complain about with when he started.
At the time I and many others thought there was. The consequences were self-evident. Maybe we would have the goalkeeping situation sorted if SB had been able to start last April.
Maybe we'd also have signed Championship wing backs before the season started and then not needed one when Elmo became available. The consequences of appointing Parkinson were due to appointing Parkinson not us doing it at the end of June. Even with the players he had available he made ridiculous decisions. Delaney at left wing being one of the best, and even before the mullering at Col U you just looked at how the defence lined up and wondered why Ricketts wasn't switched to left back with the others moving across. His selections made no sense at all.
Sorry targeting one or two odd team selections is no real proof of competence. Nigel Pearson signed Harper, Adebola, Solano - all pants. Does that make him pants? Phil Brown made some poor buys that didn't work out and weird team selections (Zaki, Stelios, Liam Cooper v Torres) Parky signed Turner and Ricketts.
They were specific examples of a recurring trend. All you've done by saying Brown and NP signed some crap players and Parky signed some good ones is suggest that the others were better at managing their players and that Parky would make a good scout.
Give it a rest you ****ing sad ****. Appointed in june. Started any aliases on here yet? Don't bother with the **** Ricardo. It's in plain sight but he'll carry it on. Nowt else in his life.
Nope. You're suggesting that, not me. I was seeking to highlight certain events and episodes off the top of my head, which contradicted commonly-held views or perceived wisdom- not suggesting that they were in fact typical.
busdriver, Unconditional Tiger, E3 Toughnut to name but three. How are the book sales going? ARF RAUS FACT YEAH
Exactly the same as Molby, but like Molby he brought in a couple of key players. Every manager has a part to play in the big picture of a team no matter how bad they appear to be. As for him going to Blackpool, it was never going to happen, now he's got to Wembley....
