...in putting up a Not606 support for Paris families donation site where it would be like signing a book of condolence but would cost £10 to sign? I haven't the skills, but I'd contribute happily - it would be a chance for the community to demonstrate a bit of meaningful solidarity maybe? It's easy enough to donate to the likes of the Movember guys so it shouldn't be beyond the wit of man, and there are a lot of 606ers - if we stuck a link on all the forums it might raise a few quid and attract some attention to the site at the same time. Any mileage?
Why only the Paris families? What about all of the other atrocities we've had recently? Do they not count?
I think it's a good idea. Obviously, there are tragedy's that happen every day, but not to this degree.
Fair play to you Davy for trying. I don't have the skills needed to start it either but will contribute if anyone else can.
Thanks for the vote of confidence Marcos, highly unlikely to go anywhere fast but if you don't float the idea it definitely won't.
https://home.justgiving.com Easy to set up on that platform, under crowd funding I would be amazed if there isn't something already happening.
To what degree? Do any of these incidents qualify for your criterion? All happened this year. There are dozens more incidents to choose from, but I chose this top 5 in terms of fatalities. 224 killed when terrorists took out a plane over Sinai? 147 killed when terrorists attacked Garissa University in Kena? 137 killed in by suicide bombers in Yemen? 146 killed by car bombs in Kobani, Syria? 145 killed by Boko Haram in Maiduguri, Nigeria? And before anyone levels the accusation, let me save them the bother - I AM trying to be awkward. Why is Paris receiving such special attention? Why are all of these other families left to get on with it themselves without our pity? I honestly don't understand it. Honestly.
Idea was good Davy...........but how about donations to send the "refugees " back to where ever they come from. I await abuse from our leftie ****s..
We could donate enough and hire a private pirate Armada......................................a big private pirate Armada...
Got into it with a ****ing jumped up local last week, was having a pint and on the news on the screen came a pic of the refugees, he said what is this, living in tents, i piped up and asked him how many of his brothers are you housing, or Saudi, UAE, Bahrain etc......... non i told him, mate with me said, "anyway what you doing in here", he ****ed off, hypocrites the lot of them.
Don't be a tragedy hipster. People should never be discouraged from showing empathy. Quite frankly it's obvious why Paris got more attention. Look at the other places where there was tragedies, you don't report a fire in a furnace.
A lot of communities have suffered at the hands of the Islamic state. It is quite natural though to feel the suffering of our close neighbours, in this case, Paris. At any other time, I'd call them cheese eating surrender monkeys, but I wouldn't mean it. We're in this together.
