On a serious note, i have 3 kids, 2 in their 30s and 1 fast approaching (28), i have told them all since they were old enough to understand that we all have ists and isms in our makeup because basically we are tribal. No matter if it be United v City, Manchester V Liverpool, the North v the South or England v the World. People will always find something to unite/divide/separate them, the trick is to see what is important or what the real difference is and more often than not you will find there is none.
The best man i have ever known died two months ago (my brother-in-law), he was 14 years older than me and when i was 9 years old he said to me "take people as you find them", it has stuck with me for over 50 years and i have never found reason to doubt the wisdom of that simple phrase.

Agreed, the trouble is people often judge people as others find them.
"Take people as you find them" is a hard principle for some and an easy one for others. It's only hard when people allow a bad experience with a few to make sweeping statements about the whole. For example, I could say all LFC fans are living in the past, are deluded and need to get used to midtable mediocrity.... but the truth is the vast majority already know that
