Why do they all think that you're gay? Just because you're from Brighton (that gay suburb of Liverpool)?
Putting my serious boots back on. What does everyone make of Cameron saying 7 similar attacks on Britain have been prevented? Think that's legit?
Who knows? But we're obviously a major target! Presumably, out intelligence series are a bit sharper than their French counterparts.
He said they were smaller scale, and I'm sure there was a certain degree of poetic licence in there, as unless you catch them red handed with weapons and fully drawn up plans, then barring a confession or some hard physical evidence, then you're probably adding some assumption to what's actually known. "planning an attack" could be anything from 2 blokes talking on the net through to being caught with a transit van full of semtex.
Who knows really. Great opportunity to say something like that to, 1 look good and 2 make people feel safer. Dunno why they wouldn't say at the time though if a attack had been directly stopped via intelligence, obviously without releasing methods and such but then I'm not a spy or whatever.
The latest trial is two blokes who discussed committing an atrocity on line, and were arrested when they bought two large kitchen knives. Fortunately for us guns are relatively difficult to get hold off, especially AK-47'S
Yeah. Then you have the US who send blokes into mosques and have them spend months convincing someone to get involved in a terror attack. When they finally relent and say "yes" they arrest the guy and then pat each other on the back congratulating each other for preventing a terrorist attack.
For me, the answer to fighting these fundamentalist lunatics has to come from within Islam itself. We are infidels, even to some otherwise reasonably tolerant Muslims, and so what we say is not going to carry any weight. I also think that there are many 'ordinary' Muslims who would like to speak out. They obviously know that their silence will be construed as complicity by many non Muslims. However, I think we have also to remember that these fanatics control people through extreme violence, implied, threatened, and actual. Just as in Northern Ireland, many people are too frightened too say what they really think for fear of the possible repercussions to themselves and their families.
