I love this Sissoko crack. He was absolute gash in the middle when he played there, which is why he was moved to the wing. Far too lazy. Fair play to the lad, he has upped his workrate and he is no longer a liability playing in the middle. That doesn't mean Pardew was wrong to not play him there last season when it looked like he wasn't capable of playing there.

Pardew has done well in recent games, that is a fact, however last night in the first half we seemed to have changed to just punting longs balls up to Perez and Cisse which was never going to work, we also starting standing off them and letting them play. 2nd half for 30 minutes we changed style, scored and looked like the only team winning the game, we were closing them down again, passing the ball nicely along the floor. Also have to say being there yesterday a few players looked off the place due to injuries, yet Steven Taylor was picked due to coming back from an injury and looked fitter than some of those players (including Williamson).

Even his biggest critics have to give him credit for that today. Everybody fired up and working hard and well drilled. We gave Chelsea very few real chances. Inspired substitution. Fair play!

He is having a great season as a manager. Making a difference in loads of games and had us really well organised. I can't believe how well he has integrated so many new players. Not many managers find it easy. Some of his critics moan when he picks Gouff over Cabella, or picks Dummett over Haidara, that he picks Colback all the time, but they must get stuck into some humble pie.

Can't believe he has turned it round.

    Dear Deidre:

My wife caught me masturbating over a picture of Alan Pardew.

She said " I've been watching you through the window for 5 minutes you dirty bastard "

    Is she a pervert?

Right now he is definitely making some very gpod decisions. The squad look happy and it is showing on the pitch.

    This.

Had to say I wasn't sure at the time why he made the substitution bringing Cisse on. Not sure if Cabella was injured or not but whatever the reason the substitution was inspired.

Cracking subs again, seems to be able to set us up in multiple systems, making fantastic use of our squad, working beyond his means and with a poor, depleted squad, showing dignity whilst working in difficlut conditions..

are us pardew supporters allowed to be a bit smug now? Because there might no be much time for it after january when mike sells all our best players, our results suffer, and everyone blames pardew again

Obviously im being slightly facetious but yeah, not doing too badly at all is he. I'd say if we beat the mackems there could be quite a wild swing in his favour. We shall see.

This is still a massive achilles heel for him - the derby. If he can muller them in the home one he can maybe buy time. As you say though, Mike is more than capable of changing his squad for him in January.

do you reckon well keep moussa? I honestly thought we would get another season (at least) as he hopefully matured and got to grips with the league etc, but he's come on a lot more than I believe most of us would have expected...and I'm wary as anything now. We could probably cope a lot better without him than when cabaye was sold in the same situation, but again it's the knock on effect to the players regarding just how much they should strive to pull together as a team when the team is sabotaged at any opportunity.

There's also the argument that it could push players to improve as it would show them they could get big money moves elsewhere, but there are obviously negative aspects to that kind of thinking.

I think we'll not lose anyone we don't want to this window (ie possibly Tiote - but we'll make noises that we still want him but know deep down that its a good time to cash in).

Just a gut feeling but I think Ashley will see what he did last january - plus Sissoko isn't in the same mental place that Cabaye was last year where he'd been leaving in his head for a while

You're probably right mate but I'm bloody worried, cabaye leaving at that point was terrible for our ambition but it was a big chunk of money we've used to fund our latest league "success" and with Mike you wonder whether he will just keep trying to replicate these feats. Tbh, and bearing in mind he has a few years left on contract, we would get the same amount of cash for him in summer so potentially we will hold off.
