I hope you are right but I'm not convinced. I can sense from reading these boards and people I've spoken with, that some are stuck in last season. My greatest fear sticking with Pardew was that we'd have a good portion who just won't ever take to him. I still believe that is the case. We're getting tonked off Citeh regardless. We'll need to beat West Ham but I can an uneasy atmosphere inside St James by that early stage. If so it will be very disappointing on the part of the fans for me.

Depends on who we bring in before the start of the season. If we DON'T bring anyone in and if we start badly ( a loss is a certainty against City but other GAMES should be winnable) then I think Pardew may be in trouble. If it carries on until October and we get tonked by Sunderland he will be gone. Now normally I would be happy at this but if it means that walking heart attack sloting in you can forget it! Either that or we will get in some bottom feeder probably worse than Pardew.

    If Pardew can

1/ Stop the disgusting long ball merchantry

2/ End the 'Jobs for the Boys' mentality

3/ Play people in their CORRECT positions

I'm sure the fans will give him time.

Hes had over 6 months to figure this out and he would need to do so very quickly. What is so wrong with sitting each midfielder down and asking their preferences, their assessment of their own strengths/weaknesses, what works for them and who they feel they play better with and tr and use that to inform where each person fits with the team
