Why say that when you have no idea what has happened at the negotiating table? He's entitled to have his own demands and if the club and player cant come to an agreement then he'll leave. People are so quick to turn on their own players.

good solid squad player, but im itching for Santon to displace him from the team.

I see in the interview, Pards says "He's keeping out Davide Santon, who we've paid very good money for", so he's definitely destined for the RB slot rather than filling in the vacancy LB

In my mind, Simpson is sat at a table with Pardew looking down at him, cigar in mouth, bitches by his side. He hands him a pen and goes "sign the ****ing contract, son", before flashing that trademark 'new-contract' smile.

No simmo rates himself higher than he is clearly greed is a factor....once santon take over him the better

Based on what? He's being offered less than his team mates, he feels hard done by. I'm not saying we should cave and offer him what he wants if we dont agree with it but how can you say it's greedy when you dont even know what the offer is?

He's also said that about Raylor keeping Santon out though so I wouldnt be so sure.

Then again, we do appear to be after a LB.

That doesn't make sense though. Didn't we bring in Santon to replace Enrique? We already have two right-backs in Simmo and Raylor.

And Tiote is holding his kid udside-down in one hand and a baseball bat in the other...

Too much?

yeah, tiote wouldnt need a bat.

i reckon we were looking for a replacement, the opportunity to sign Santon on the cheap turned up and it was too good an offer to turn down, and since he can play on the left too, we went for him as a temporary replacement, with a view to shifting him over to RB once a long term LB is secured.

We've got Santon, and It looks likely we're going to sign another fullback In jan or next summer.

He obviously wants first team football, which he probs wont be getting once Santon and the new fullback are in good form.

now you've put that in my head i will imagine all our contract talks to go this way in future.
siimmo is a good squad player the question i guess is do i think santon is better i'd go with yes from what i've seen of him so that leaves the problem of simmo being back up i doubt he'd stay here for that

Yeah that's the thing, he probably realises this and doesn't like the idea of being backup. I remember an interview with him when he said he always makes himself available for every match, cup or league, because he wants as many games as he can get. Santon is a big threat to his position because let's face it he's a far better player so Simpson will know his days are numbered once Santon is ready to play regularly.

I'd love Simmo to stay as back up to be honest. Always tried his best and has improved as of late. He'd probably rather play first team for a mid table/bottom half team though. But, we have Santon and probably a new LB coming in. Either way, I'm not too fussed.
