"We would all like to thank the fans for their continued support and assure them we remain committed to providing affordable football at St. James' Park."

WoW. Super stoked about next season - who wants anything more than affordable football.

I'd like to say i'm looking forward to next season - Frankly i'm dreading it. More of the same negative, clueless crap. Pardew can f*ck off as can Llambias.

I understand the need to put the speculation to bed. But would it kill the guy to be a bit more optimistic? Seems little point in saying anything.

Well Pardew confirmed top four was his aim in August, so we were only the 12 places and 32 points (11 wins) short <laugh>

What does he have to do to be dismissed??!

Would be nice if people voted with their feet and showed llambias and Ashley what they think of affordable football. Not going to happen though.

Glad to see Pardew is being given more time, must be one of the few on here who can still say that.

What I think we can all agree on and with, is that this statement looks very much like a do or die situation for Pardew. The whole notion of meeting our targets next year suggests that if we should fail in hitting these targets, Pardew is a goner, and I will have no complaints should that happen.

They've 'pinpointed a number of factors that contributed to a season which fell below expectations' have they.

If Pardew is not considered a factor then the failure to properly strengthen the squad last summer is surely a fiery beacon of one. It will be interesting to see if they change their ways this summer. Unfortunately I will not be surprised if they fall short again and claim that the bulk of the required transfer business was done in January. Sissoko, Gouff etc 'like new signings now they have a bit of experience and a full pre-season. Not to mention the usual long term injury returnees being like new signings waffle.

Completely agree. I'd suggest it's too difficult to achieve this though as not everyone will stay away so it would just mean the lads playing in front of 40k instead of 52k which can only be a bad thing.

Whether you like it or not top 10 is a realistic aim for Newcastle, however this season 10th got 46 points which isn't really a very good points tally and one that Newcastle should be aiming to beat.

As long as we stay in the Premier League and bring the money in for Ashley, then Pardew will never get sacked.

Agree. However, I wish they had therefore set more challenging targets to actually test him. Top 10 should really be an absolute minimum aim for our club and could be exceeded with the relevant investment. Sadly, it seems the ambition of the owners matches the ability of the manager. Looking forward to next season!

You've raised a good point to be fair. For me our targets should be based on points and not positions as that can be deceptive. As we only missed out on 10th by 5 points this season which would suggest we only just underachieved, however we all no that this isn't the case.

I would hope for a points total of 58, so that would be 17 wins, 7 draws and 14 losses. A fair target for me and one that should be achievable. Would see a league placing of 10th - 7th most probably.
