How can anyone defend Pardew now? I have been complaining about him for a few weeks now as the injury excuse is wearing thin - the tactics are to blame and today we showed no fight no spirit and no tactics and were comprehensively outplayed by Brighton - who are a good team, but we should be playing better against them.

So that's it for me, who cares about new signings? With the same drab tactics we won't progress , Pardew is massively out of his depth and needs to be sacked.

I don't think it's so much the tactics. It's that the players he used to deploy them simply aren't good enough. I can see why he would not play marveux as he has looked decent of late and will be worried about losing him to injury but the underbelly of our squad of players are not good enough.

I'm not sure I agree.

We have a similar squad to last year and finished 5th. Yes we needed to strengthen to progress but consider the following:

No goals scored from a corner in 250+ attempts

Never came back from a losing position under Pardew's reign

Not won a game away from home in any competition this season

One of the worst goals from crosses and set pieces in the league

Terrible defensive record. How much of this is NOT Pardew's fault?

I can. See the other thread and actually look at the players he had available today.
I don't want to see us go back to the old days and sack every manager after a bad run. We need perspective people and not knee jerk reactions. Judge the man at the earliest after the window closes.
If you feel that strongly he should go..., who to come in? How much more money would a new manger get?
Case rested.

Our first 11 is a match for most teams. We need to replace ba and strengthen in other areas but on a whole it's the players on the pitch who are not capable of doing the job this year. Every manager is going to employ tactics that will not go down well with sections of fans. That's football.

This sums it up for me.

The 'performance' at Brighton was a very public humiliation - we showed no fight or passion and the players looked like they'd never met before.

Yes, there are about ten players missing from what would be our strongest team, but we know that rotation is required with the amount of fixtures that the club has to contest this season.

The bottom line is that the squad players are not good enough. To be completed out-played and out-fought by Brighton is a disgrace to Newcastle United and to say i'm very unhappy with the situation is a massive understatement.

Is sacking Pardew the answer?

I think he deserves the chance to put things right until the end of the season - if we get relegated then he has to go... it's as simple as that.

Let's see what the club do during this window and look to performances once we have more senior players back.

Far to soon to be calling for his head. Let's see what happens when

We get our senior players fit
They have enough time to get up to full match fitness
The end of the January transfer window
The players we recruit in that window start to bed in
And then, he probably needs another season
If we are relegated, he should still stay on and sort the mess out !!!!!

Don't see the point in sacking Pardew. Problem is some squad players just not good enough and after today I dont see many of them up for the fight to stay in Prem.
We need to invest and hopefully players coming back from injury will give us a boost.

Yeah let's sack our manager in January. Then bring in Kinnear, Keegan and Shearer in about 6 months.

All that instability again, who would want that?
If the powers that be decided to sack him, then it's out of our hands, same as losing players, whether we want them gone or not, but I wont be calling for anyone's head, would prefer him to address our problems not add to them!

Don't see the point of sacking him. Last season everyone loved him (we were a bit lucky like, looking back on it), and now we've had a run of bad luck and nothing is working for the club. Sacking him now, though, would just be a return to the crazy days of not being able to keep a manager for a whole season. Anyway, my point is that sacking him probably won't turn things around that easily and who would we get anyway. He should be given a chance to fix things.

I also think being out of the FA cup is a bit of a blessing in disguise.

Absolute ****e for the SEASON. him and his tactics have been horrible.... His players can't execute the offside trap, and we live and die(we have died so many times) by it. 2nd Goal today, Willo moves forward but doesn't realise Left Back playing the striker on, also no communication on that. What the F?! I know sometimes you can' blame the manager for mistakes, but his subs are well documented. What's more, the team plays hoofball at an alarming rate. Let's face it, route one football is only going to find its target about 20-30% of the time, the rest of the time it's going to the keeper, the defender is going to clear it, or it's going somewhere down the sidelines where the striker can't reach, or the defender is going to win the ball....

The Point is, our players aren't even the most technically gifted, and having them hoof the ball up front isn't going to work. Today , we looked like a League One side out there against Brighton, utterly dominated.

Still, I don't know if Pardew Out is going to help us. I don't think so.

Pardew is a tool, however the person who I blame is fat mike
For not backing pardew in the summer,

We are absolutely awful, yeah the thread is 1 star (surprise surprise) but I am so angry at the moment, as am sure 99% of us supporters are, it is so frustrating to watch - I feel sorry for the guys who spent 8 hours or so travelling down to watch that utter drivel on show today.

I cannot overlook Pardew, we cannot blame injuries all the time, did you see Aston Villa come back today from 1 nil down? To win 2-1, then Sunderland, from 2 nil down, to draw 2-2. What did we do? Went 1-0 down, then did nothing to show we would equalise before another excuse appeared (Shola's sending off which made no difference, we were better without him) and then they scored again!

We have been AWFUL all season, including when we had Ben Arfa & Cabaye on the pitch - so I cannot see how they are the answer and how it will all be rosy when they return.

Personally, I feel our team today was MORE than capable of winning the game, with the correct tactics, motivation and belief, they had none of that, and looked like a bunch of headless chickens all game - we can blame Williamson all we like, but the other players were useless as well, and Sammy Ameobi is one of the worst players to pull on the toon shirt in recent years, he is AWFUL, as is Abeid and Obertan.
Do you honestly think Aston Villa's first team was better than our team today? I don't think they are, yet they still managed a win.

I honestly do not know who we could bring in instead of Pardew, but I just feel he has gotten away lightly from all this, as there does not appear to be any pressure on him, and you CANNOT deny that since he has signed his contract we have been terrible.

Also, to the poster mentioning 'rough periods' how many teams over the years put up with a run like this?? Let me guess, the old 'Sir Alex at Man U' story will come out again, well 9 times out of 10, it wouldn't work out, Sir Alex cannot be compared to Alan Pardew who has proven to have one season successes followed by utter garbage the following season.
