I was very surprised when I heard this. While Pardew has done a good job at Newcastle, there are better managers and its not (in my eyes anyway, most of you will probably feel differently) hugely likely for him to improve upon much. I personally can't see him taking you much further so an 8 year contract means that you certainly don't wanna be in a position to sack him

I think you'll find that research has showed us over the years that rats generally will gravitate to anything that's associated with sh*te.

The next season or two will be interesting because we wont reach the heights of last season and eventually we will be forced to replace Ben Arfa, Ba, Cabaye and Krul if big money comes it which it will. If we can replace them and operate financially as we are, stay around mid tsable to 8th and keep the fans on a string everything will be perfect for the clubs plan, however if we struggle this is just a piece of paper.

Pardew already had a long-term deal - i'm not suggesting that this is a bad idea, but surely the only thing it changes is the amount of compensation Pardew would get if he was to be sacked.

Stability is never a bad thing but with only one full season behind him, Pardew has landed himself a very lucrative future at Newcastle United... no matter how long he's actually here for.
Does this mean he will remain in charge even if we were to be relegated?

I really can't see that happening... relegation that is.

Mike Ashley is building a decent structure after a complete farce of a start to his tenure - let's hope it all works out with Pardew in charge.
