The thing that hasn't been menitoned much is Raylor now being part of our scouting team to keep him involved. Getting the players perspective, procuding reports and feeding back to the players. As Pards said it can be small things like "he doesn't want you running at him, he doesn't like people who cut back inside etc etc. He reckons it will be well past Chrimbo for poor Raylor. You'd have to question if he can be the same player after 2 years out.

Have to say that once I can think of a new name I'll be changing mine.

I do think there was a point last season (Liverpool and Sunderland games) where he was deserving of the sack and should have gone. We basically stayed up becasue there were three worse teams than us.

However all that anger I had from then has had time to settle and I do feel he's learned/learning from his mistakes. I also think his manager of the year award went to his head and that he needed a bad season to bring him back down to earth and from hsi interviews this season this seems to have happened.

He still does say the odd thing I completely disagree with (which manager doesn't I guess) and I do think he's a little too camera friendly at times. Our aim this season is top 10, I think he deserves a chance to lead us there and I think he'll give it his best.

He's got us playing how I believe football should be played even if it does still need some fine tuning and I do believe (and have always said this even when I've slated him) that he does hold a genuine affinity towards our club.

Is pardew the man to take us higher than 7th?
Nar, can't see it ever again.
But can that be a seasonal expectation with any manager under Ashley? No
Is he better than kinnear? YES

Mirrors what I was thinking. Basically can't be bothered to moan about it anymore. I mean, it's not likely to change, especially not for the better, and who out there's any more of a manager, any better a person? Probably no-one, under current ambition limitations. We're a better side when the public are just behind the team. It's like when SBR was in charge - I can't remember every, single game but I'd be happy to bet that we didn't win 'em all! But the fans always stood by and went for the next game. Maybe it would be nice to keep Pardew for another decade then have a transition in to Alan Shearer or Lee Clark for the following 30 years.

Part of me twinges a bit about it, because it feels a bit defeatist, like accepting Ashley and his lack of ambition, accepting that the CL dream is now never going to happen. But then that's life, right? He's earned his place as owner, no-one else appears willing or able to take over, and there really is fck all we can do about it. The worst thing he could do is bankrupt the club, he holds all the keys. Hell, he also owns the locks, the doors and the hotel. Just takes some recalibration, a step back and a thought of "if we can finish top 10 and get a good cup run, with some decent football along the way, then that'll do." And, to be fair to the manager, that's what appears to be on the agenda.
