Just to put things in to context, Souness, Roeder, Dalglish & Gullit all have a better win percentage than Pardew does during their times as manager of our club.
We have Arsenal and West Ham to play, two of the most in form teams in the league. Liverpool at home will be tough and that leaves QPR away. Yes they're hopeless but we've also only won away game all season. So I think it's realistic that we may only get 1 or 2 points. Wigan have West Brom away (nothing to play for), Swansea home (nothing to play for) and Villa at home. I can see 6 points from those games. They also have tougher games at home to Spurs and away to Arsenal which should return 0 points. If we played out the remainder of this season say 10 times, I reckon we'd get relegated 3 out of those 10 times. It's far from cut and dry.
Something seems to be a bit knackered with the quote system this afternoon. I wonder if they're trying to fix the double-posting and its affecting other stuff??
I hope you are wrong - as I'm sure you do. I don't think we'll ever agree over Pardew, so can only agree to disagree like you said. I hope he is here next year, but if he isn't I will be supporting the new manager as it is Newcastle I support and not the manager. however, I'm really not sure that any replacement would improve things and I could well see many potential replacements making things worse. That said, I was 100% against sacking Hughton and bringing Pardew in, just as I am now 100% against sacking Pardew. If he does go I will very much hope to be proved wrong - again!
You are putting a huge amount of faith in a Wigan team in gash form, 1 point in 9, and who are at the foot of the table for a very good reason. I am struggling to see the logic here to be honest. After this Saturdays game at home to Spurs, they play 5 games in 15 days. It looks pretty stacked against them to be honest. I could see it happening maybe once out of those 10 times you speak of.
Just to clear things up I don't think he should be sacked now, I think he should go at the end of the season and ONLY if a more suitable replacement is willing to come. I wouldn't just sack him for the sake of it, but if I was MA & DL i'd start making discreet enquiries in toif people such as Poyet, Martinez, Gourcuff etc want the job. But yeah after an 8 page debate we should probably agree to disagree
At least it will earn lots of thread points and keep the person who started the thread happy. Oh wait.....No...happy probably isn't a word he likes
They outplayed City (at City) and should/could have won and lost away at West Ham who are 6th in the form table I believe. They've won four of their last 7 in all competitions, they've beat us 2-1, Norwich 1-0, Everton away 3-0 and Millwall 2-0. So you've slightly dressed up the stats there.
Not really mate. We're talking current form. I'd say our form is average but we've taken 19 points from the last 11 games. That looks pretty good form but its not current form because the reality is in the month of April we have won 1, lost 1 and drawn 1. We deserved all three results. Now that doesn't look too bad but we all know our form isn't great. Wigan all said and done have managed one point against a lowly QPR side. You could argue they were lucky to even get that point as they had to rely on a 94th min free kick despite playing against 10 men for a full 70mins. They played well at Citeh but they got beat, they were awful against West Ham and deserved to lose. Cup games are neither here nor there to be honest, we all know teams can over achieve in the cup. Their league form is worse than ours currently whichever way we dress up stats. Even if you went back 6 games, they would still be below us in the current form table on goal difference. They also have a murderous run in and a potentially morale and energy sapping FA Cup plonked right in the middle. Our goal difference is even better. Whichever way we look at it, the odds are stacked incredibly heavily in our favour to finish above them.
