and me! Keep him, without Europe I'm sure we'd have a handful more points (if only because we'd have had Ben Arfa!) and that would put us top ten. We got to the quarter finals of Europe. His tactics overall don't bother me as much as some but his subs and plan B are a joke... still don't like the way of chopping and changing all the time a la the "makem method"
If we stick with him I'd shrug and say give him time next season - his tactics are poor at the moment but this is probably being influenced at least in part by the pressure of the relegation fight leading to a looking to not lose before looking to win which is backfiring. His tactics last season were on the whole much better, though he still had the odd shocker. If we sack him at the end of the season I'd shrug and say that they'd better get the next appointment spot on. Benitez? Doesn't he usually like to spend large sums in the transfer window? Not sure, never really paid much attention to his Liverpool team, nor Chelsea this season. What style does he favour? Wouldn't be gutted or ecstatic if we brought him in. Also if he was doing well for us and Liverpool came in for him in the future it'd be a case of 'see ya!'.
Oh well lets just prey we can get a win and hope things get better!!! sorry guys I've a slight issue with my mood because deep down I care. whatever happens I'll still have funerals etc to put this stupid game into perspective.
He has overspent on 'squad players' who are all meant to be the next best thing and then disappear into oblivion. One of the reasons why Liverpool have blown so much yet achieved do little in recent years. With a more astute manager during his time there they would be top 4 every year.
I voted go, BUT only on the condition we can get someone better which I believe we can. Also got say what ACS has said about Benitez I've heard 3 or 4 times now, so think there is some substance in it.
Hopefully that wouldn't be such an issue were he to come here. Surely he'd have to come agreeing to our transfer strategy and scouting structure in which case Carr would keep him in check. Really if we were to ditch Pards I'd only be really happy if we replaced with a manager who is strong commitment to attractive attacking football, but who has the tactical nous to change things up if necessary.
id have benitez cl winner , done alright at liverpool ..took a lot of grief at chelski but pulling it around .. got to be better than pardew..surely
Apart from feeling we need stability, my big concern is the lack of available improvements who would come here. I'd be disappointed if we just continued on the like for like merry-go-round. After his first euro qualification with Everton, David Moyes nearly got them relegated the next year. They stuck with him and he has done more than alright since.
In my honest opinion this thing about stabilty is only valid if the club is doing well the fact is we are unstable anyway. This nonsense has come about because of Ferguson, Wenger and Moyes but the fact remains that they havn't had a bad season yet! they would all be out on their arses by now if they had a season even remotely as bad as ours. Same goes with all this bollocks about experience and players that understand the club !!! it's all utter bollocks - YOU NEED GOOD PLAYERS
You're not really understanding stability are you? If you think things only ever go well, you'll never get stability. Every manager in the history of football has had times or seasons where their team doesn't do well.
