Isn't marmalade only used for citric fruits though? As for the butty thing, never use the word myself apart from when ordering a chip butty from a chippy.

Probably just his club's chairman saying it's a trial, good luck, blah blah (quote already out and about) and maybe an interview within, a local journo (Mark Douglas I think) twatted him about it, but any response was a DM.

Yeah I guess citrus fruits is right; lemon, lime, orange, mandarin, clementine are the only ones i've seen. Still should technically only be used for clementines is my point though.

    You mean this

Speaking to NUFCfans.co.uk, Jack Pearce said that the player will remain at Bognor Regis Town before heading up for a trial on Tyneside in January.

    He said:
"It's true. There's nothing more to it. Jason is on his way to Newcastle for a trial. He will be up there for a week in January - I'm not sure of the dates yet."
"I'm a level headed person, I know how football works. At the moment, it's just a trial. A club like Newcastle gets many trialists and a lot of them end in disappointment. We wish Jason the best, let him enjoy it and it if doesn't work out, we'll still be here."

When asked about the player's style, Pearce added:
"At our level, he has an amazing record. He's big, strong, good in the air, a little like Alan Shearer was in his younger days."
"Now, whether he can make a jump up to the top level remains to be seen. The defences will be stronger but he will be getting better service."

I've never understood how De Rosario has been stuck in the MLS, surely he's good enough for at least Wigan or Bolton! I still think he could do a job for them, he's scored at least 15 goals last two seasons and a few assists.

The South American players all seem pretty decent too! Juninho who was on loan at LA looks good enough for most European leagues. I think the MLS will start becoming more of a feeder league soon a bit like the Dutch league is. It's only so long that the talented USA youth and South American stars can be kept there, and up until now I can only assume that the relative lack of coverage and people assuming it's a poor league has been the cause of a relative lack of scouting there from European leagues.

Thanks for the preserve and sandwich lesson!

I remember my Scottish ex always found the different use of 'bap' in Greggs/around Newcastle compared to Scotland entertaining!...Don't ask me why, it was early days of the relationship and was way over my head at the time.

Fair play to the lad hope he does the biz and gets a contract <ok>

If we are scouring the lower leagues looking for prolific scorers they should send Carr to watch Guernsey FC. We have a striker who has scored 48 goals so far this season in about 27 games.

Oh yeah we have baps too (snigger, chortle, fanar fanar). Only round here they can also be called biscuits (Guernsey Biscuits). Like I said I wish we could just agree on what things are called and take away all the confusion.

Can't really explain DeRo, he's arguably been the most prolific Canadian scorer we've ever had (although Junior Hoillet, Simeon Jackson, and Jonathan de Guzman all have huge potential) 93 goals and 63 assists as a midfielder in his career (not including international scoring), league MVP multiple times, but never caught a break out of the MLS. That said, he can be a diva, he threw his toys out last spring after trialing with Celtic and wanting more money from Toronto FC - leaving his hometown club, and he's always clashed with the national team coaches.

I wouldn't mind. He deserves the chance to play at a higher level and as a club we will only ever be able to get so far. He has already done enough to pretty much guarantee promotion.

I'm sure most of the Bognor fans feel the same about Prior.

Hmm, loads of other players have been awkward to manage and have still been taken on by larger teams, maybe he's just not seen as good enough to be worth the hassle. I was baffled when he left Toronto though, can't exactly say it's been too bad a move for him though!

Basically he was just bitter that Julian de Guzman was the highest paid player on the team - who was also from Toronto and they brought over from Villareal. Was Dwayne deserving of being the highest paid player, definitely, but he should have been a man about it and not let his ego take over like it did.

    Whoops, we got off topic...

I hope we keep shopping for another striker!

<laugh> most threads go miles off topic!

I'd be happy with that non-league bloke so long as he's not complete dross. If players like Lovenkrands, Shola and Best could get us through last season they should do better this season due to the improved service from Cabaye and HBA.

Also in reply to OP, Mark Douglas on twitter is suggesting the board are looking at strikers again 'under 26 w/ potential'.
