No offence Swim but it is not valid to cry racism when criticism is being applied, it just comes across as a cheap shot to kill off the debate.
I did not say you were, but it is bordering on the verge of it. Be careful, that's all I am saying. To single out a single religion after all the attrocities man has carried out in the name of all religions is bordering on it. I for one will not comment further as it has nowt to do with footy and fun. Carry on if you wish though
Has anyone seen Donnelly play frequently enough to assess his potential,or otherwise? He signed for The Swans' despite alleged stiff competition from Everton and Liverpool. Somebody must have seen potential in the lad,yet so far he has only made the bench. I had hoped that he would have had a run out during the latter part of last season, but he was ignored. We couldn't buy a goal then, but seemingly he wasn't seen as the answer.
I can see where you are coming from swim, but the thread is about Cisse, who is a Muslim, hence the posts opening up to include that particular religion. Islam wasn't "singled out". Discussing religion is not racist, and it should at all times be open to, a)discussion, and b)criticism. To deny those options is tantamount to gagging and even abuse of human rights. Religion should not have any special consideration, here,or anywhere. It should be accountable. I feel very strongly about this, and in fact, will request a sticky be created to facilitate those who do wish to discuss it.
I seem to remember Rodgers being the reason he chose to come here, but I may have got that wrong. Perhaps it was my dick that was "stiff".
Yeah it was Rodgers telling the young lad how "fantastic" the area and people are... If he was any good he would already be showing up in training to Laudrup. potential maybe but probably not at prem league level, especially as players his age are already making their prem debuts and performing. The flip side is that Ben Davies has showed that if given a chance anything can happen, though Laudrup did pick him out very early and took him to USA,which shows our manager can pick a player. Fingers crossed for Donnelly anyway
God, Allah, Jehova etc. etc are names given to quantify our inherent fear of the unknown. Believe in life and the living not names and ghosts, your life and the world would be better for it.
I personally I have more important things to concentrate on other than what someone believes in long as their beliefs don't impact on my or my families lives, they can pray to a donkey for all I care .I haven't studied the Bible , Koran , Buddhism or any other form of religion but you obviously have a strong opinion it , it's just not one I'm particularly interested in .
"as long as their beliefs don't impact on me or my families lives". Unfortunately, bony, they are,and will continue so to do,with greater impact.
Sorry Swim - that's bollocks. Criticising a religion is part of free speech and not even close to being racist. I have Egyptian Muslim friends and respect them very much - but not their religion. But then again I find it hard to respect any religion. Anyway, looks like this has moved to another thread.
So whats the Answer then ? Exactly ! there isn't one Cisse will end up at another club who will pay him more, he is probably using the new sponser as a reason to get out of toon anyway
Think people should have listened to Swimaways words on this, very ropey ground indeed and now we have a sticky on religion too
Why should people have listened to swimaways words on this? Don't you think that people can make their own judgements? Religions thrive because people are unable to think for themselves. I feel more depressed than ever now.
Known Vetch a long time on the forums and his intentions will be totally hounerable that's for sure. Its something that for me is a minefield, especially over the internet where all your comments are viewed by others and content is even flagged up if certain key words are typed
Thanks for vote of confidence,Norway. Your second paragraph is a powerful one and everyone posting ANYTHING,ANYWHERE, needs to be mindful of this
Depends how you read it - and how orthodox you are: Christianity (and other religions) can be, and are as we speak, (mis)interpreted in just as sick ways as you mention with islam. There is nothing wrong with the religions, it's the people who practise them that are in the wrong. And I am an atheist - just so you don't think I am a missionary.
