For me its not a case of religion - im not religous in any way - but have morals - and this company along with its ilk have no moral basis or place in modern society. Cisse may be saying its religion - may he feels it is in his case - but its more likely his morals (could be him angling a way out too mind you - but can only take his word for it). The main thing is I can fully understand his stance.

I would rather lick my own ar$e than have any association with these companies.

You cant even avoid the poxy adverts on tv any more.

Yes that's true, but lets face it companies like wonga have an image problem, plus they are under investigation along with their ilk for lets just put it at unethical practices. Just go on the money saving expert forum to see how they act

taff, islamic Banking is similar to other Banks. You can borrow money,or open savings accounts.

The main difference is as I highlighted above. All their trading activities are profit based, rather than interest based.

So you open a savings account, they invest the money in buying goods, rice, sugar, cement, etc.,then sell it. The difference, hopefully, being profit.
Then, I presume, they deduct costs, such as admin,shareholders/owners cut,and the balance is divied up amongst their customers.
Your share would depend on how much you invested.
But,there is no way to find out how the split is calculated. It's all done on trust, with the customer having no choice other than to accept the split.
I tried on many occasions to obtain this info, but even knowing a director of the Bank didn't help me in my quest.

I never borrowed any money from them but it's the same as any other Bank.

There are islamic Banks in the U.K. and they are quoted on various websites, moneysupermarket, etc.
They actually quote a percentage return, but that is only a guide. So be careful if you plan to deal with these Banks.
Hope that clarifies it,but if you need any more info, please feel free to PM me.

Lib, thanks for the info. Just interested in how they operate, no intention in investing in their banking system.

Think ive cracked it on the Forums guys !!

If the OP is serious then it descends into kaos but if the OP is Jokey and purely for fun, then serious debate will indeed break out !1..<laugh>

Personally I think the guy is trying get the fook out of toon, if his morals were that high he would have had something to say about other sponsorship deals IMO.
