Have had a Kindle for a couple of years and have just upgraded to a Kindle fire Tablet. Early days yet but as far as the book side goes it is great. So much easier when flying to handle a kindle and instead of taking up to 6/8 books with us for holiday reading. A lot less weight!!
You're going to get yourself banned before we've even started on these boards The answer is Kindle because you get to keep all your books with you. I keep losing half read paperbacks while I'm travelling and I feel bad when I use a pen to scribble all over them.
If I really like a book and I'm likely to read it again I'll buy it on hardback for my bookcase, there is something nice about owning a good quality physical copy. For pragmatic reasons though there is just no going back from Kindle, especially when half the books I read these days are out of copyright so I get them for free.
That's the main reason I like paper. I have an office/study at home and the shelves on two walls are floor to ceiling with books. All hardback, most unread.
That confirms the entertainment boards need a moderator. Me I like entertainment and take it very seriously.
Don't take your kindle in the pool then dafty. I was paper, but I am now a proud kindle convert. I'm going to bomb my local waterstones.
The Kindle isn't as absorbent if you run out of toilet paper. It's a major chink in its armour that its developers should be addressing. While I prefer the physicality of a book, you can't beat the convenience of not having to lug half a suitcase full of books on holiday with you. Its in-built dictionary, bookmarking and search facilities also score in the Kindle's favour.
I asked the missus to pass me the newspaper. "you're so old fashioned" she said, as she passed me the kindle. That poor bloody fly never knew what hit it!
If someone wants to give me a kindle, then I'll gladly give a measured view. Also, can you colour in on a kindle like you can in paper, or indeed, draw willies on them like you did in books at school?
I was given a Kindle Fire at christmas and have to say it's marvelous. I'm planning a book burning at my next BBQ will also chop up the old book cases for fire wood.
