I don't know the answer to that, but I don't get the criticism of UEFA over the fact that the game is on ESPN, seems nonsensical to me. Many/most CL games are on subscription channels, there's nothing new about European games being on subscription channels. All Prem games are on subscrition channels too, while we're on the subject, as are many domestic cup games. Why start singling out UEFA over this particular game being on a subscription channel. It's part of the football landscape.
Over here we have Fox Sports that shows Pl & championship games live & and replay. We also have ESPN 1 & 2 - these 2 show european leagues (Spain, Italy and MLS from the US All are subscription channels and not very cheap but its better than buying an air ticket. There is only 1 channel that is free to air and it only shows CL games and not always the best one- spreading the wear I suppose. If these organizations didn't pay for the rights then most of us overseas won't be able to see the games at all, just very brief highlights on sport news progs. So with all due respect to my fellow Yids in the UK we should be grateful that it is shown anywhere regardless of who is showing it. Rant Over!
No one likes UEFA (mainly due to that c*nt Platini) and therefore we use them as a scapegoat. Simples.
Yep, that was my guess too actually, typical ridiculous scapegoating of UEFA. I like UEFA overall, they do some good things and some bad things, but I try to judge on actions not blind prejudice.
Wouldn't really call it ridiculous scapegoating to be fair mate, UEFA are no angels, they've clearly done things in the past (and present) which cause people (myself included at times) to have a generally negative and therefore biased view of them. Don't get me wrong they've done great things which has benefitted football, I won't take that away from them, though I just feel they don't appreciate and consider the fans at times and only see the £'s, which in this day and age, is pretty much the same with all businesses I suppose.
9 times out of 10 Bloodzeed has Spurs matches via the Sopcast stream which are usually in great quality and very near to real time (about a 30 second delay I think). Though I'll keep that one in mind, cheers Mike
Well I would in this case, and the poster admitted some people just have a go at UEFA, through scapegoating. To me that's blind prejudice and stupidity. Anyway, I can't tell you how happy I'm happy with UEFA and ESPN tonight, that I was able to watch such a great European night. I remember in the 60s I couldn't see Spurs away at Benfica in the semi-final of the European cup, because scandously it wasn't on TV. Ditto, in Milan for the 72 UEFa semi-final. Times have changed and so much for the better in this regard. So well done ESPN, well done UEFA, I am so, so proud of our team tonight, and so delighted I saw it live. I hope I watch us all the way to a victory in the final!!! I use the absolutely brilliant liveonline footy, but unfortunately it's closed to new members at the moment. I can watch 50+ Spurs games live this season, if we do well in the cups, it's a marvellous thing.
