You payed £10,000,000 for a player that's only ever played at Championship level - I'm not sure what your point is?

He was, I'll give you that but the impact MON made demonstrates that his is inept at knitting a team.

I've posted elsewhere, but relevant here too, that last season the team finally clicked in MARCH (Liverpool at home). I am reasonably confident we can gel before then. If we can't, we deserve whatever comes our way.

What the **** are you boys bickering about? History the past

All we've done is remove all the dead wood from the squad who weren't anywhere near good enough.

As Hughes pointed out last week, at that point we'd brought in 7 players fr a net outlay of 1.5 million. Ok that is a bit deceptive but half the players we've got are free agents with masses of experience and cost nothing out of our transfer budget, allowing Hughes to bring in a few quality players to build the team around.

Not quiet the same as blowing your budget on mediocre players who had no premiership experience as Sunderland did.

    Connor Wickham.

To be honest, Hoilett looks class so I don't really mind if he joined because he fancies the kit-man or wants to find out who Cisse's haridresser is (although being in a Hughes managed team before might have helped).

That's nothing. We've given that much to player who's had NO successful seasons in the Premiership!

Correct me if I am wrong, but Connor Wickham is A. 18 and therefore 3 years younger than that of Hoilett? B. Thought of as to be England's next big thing and whilst I admit he isn't there yet he has shown the potential C. Is on nowhere near the same amount in wages as Hoilett...

Hoilett has thus far proven he is a mercenary which at the age of 21-22 isnt a good thing if you ask me....

    A. Why is this relevant? They're both young is what you're saying.

    B. Is he? Next big what exactly?

    C. You don't know and neither do I. Unless you have a copy of either of their contracts, no point discussing wages.

Your argument is all over the place. Again, that's why no one asks you.

Oh good, the football expert is back. It's a shame you didn't get Fletcher- he and Wickham would have been £20m+ well spent.

    A. You can't dismiss Hoilett because he's 3 years older than someone else and then say that he (JH) is too young to be a mercenary.
    B. Wickham has been the size of a horse since he was 16 and yet other "next big things" have made it into the England team by younger ages - currently Rooney, Wilshire, Jones, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Richards have made it sooner than him (so there must be something slightly amiss with his development if you cite age as being to his benefit).
    C. I'm sure everyone at Sunderland is there for the open-top bus tours. Particularly endearing characters would include Gyan (is he still on the books?) and Bentdner. All Premiership clubs will have mercenaries (except maybe the top clubs who pay ridiculous wages anyway but have the success to back it up).

You completely disregarded my point (albeit presented in a throwaway fashion) about Hughes having worked with Hoilett before which might add stability to a kid that hasn't been moving every other year. I don't know that and, unless you're part of his inner circle, I'd assume you're speculating too

Where is our resident Know It All when you need him? We've signed no one for about a month and sunderland have just picked up a championship player and a bench warmer for a bargain price of £20m. Please WAJ, tell us how it's done.
