But all week you have been saying it was a "must win".

    Make your mind up !!

I don't suppose the players care about the supporters. I too thought a win but it was the euphoria of last week that probably clouded things a little but I'm not unhappy,I'm certain that we'll go through. We are not losing. I've long thought that continental managers tend to prioritize more than British ones and treat the EL more importantly. I feel secure with AVB in Europe.

That's true. Some cracking goals in that game. There's a lot of work ahead of Rodgers at Liverpool and I am not convinced he's up to it.

Was anyone else getting motion sickness from ITV's camera during thew match?

Also, for whatever reason, the fans were mainly placed on the side of the stadium away from the camera, which is quite bizarre - usually the crowds are placed in front of the camera, so the masses of empty seats are hidden for most of the match (see the 2012 World Cup for plentiful evidence of this)

Yeah, you could have 3 points from two games instead of 2.<whistle>

Clearly Spurs didn't watch the City vs Borussia Dortmund game.....or have any recollection of Tottenham's first two premier league games.

Oh it had nothing to do with anybody else's post.
Just saying how, if Spurs watched the City game yesterday, or remembered their draws against Norwich and West Brom, they wouldn't have sat back after going 1 up.

Presumably there's going to be one hack article saying Villas-Boas told them to sit on a 1-0 lead, even though you could see him urging the team to push up at the bottom of the screen for most of the second half.

    <applause>

    100% agree with this.

I also feel sorry for AVB (what the f*ck is wrong with me!?).

He clearly wants to do well in the competition, as do the fans and he was good enough to the travelling support to field a very, very strong team with just one or two changes. The players showed no desire in my opinion, they went there expecting to win easy and in a weird way, I'm glad Pana scored to make them realise that no team is a pushover in this competition. Hopefully, we'll see a much stronger and more determined performance from the players to show they fans that they too, want to progress and do well.

I did like what AVB said pre-game to the journalist, when asked "You've fielded a strong team, is this an indication you want to win the tournament", AVB replied with a response along the lines of "yes of course and I also want the players to get used to playing midweek games also" - In my eyes, a great answer and clearly shows his determination to get a CL league place this season and also get the players fully prepared for it should we pull it off.

Have to give the man credit over these past few weeks, he's certainly starting to impress me. Still not fully convinced by a long shot but definitely gaining my faith.

I can't wait for Scott Parker's return to the squad for that reason, SoS.
We desperately needed somebody out there to show some passion and desire, rather than an attempt to stroll through the tie.
Games like this are the reason that we need a strong squad, with youngsters pushing the first XI for their places.

Yep, Parker would have ensured a more committed performance, good point.

Absolutely PNP. Parker wouldn't have stood for that lacklustre display from some of our players and no doubt would have ripped into them more so than what AVB would have. Perhaps we needed Gallas to start last night too, he's very similar to Parker with his determination and passion.

Tommy, whilst not having the worst performance, didn't seem to take this game as a chance to prove himself. Happy enough to float in some really good freekicks but when the ball was in play it never looked like he was hungry to get it and prove himself, which made it probably the most disappointing performance.

As many have said we need some players back to rotate the team, should have a few back by Maribor,

This looks like it will be a tight group, without a nul point team like Shamrock last season. I hope the other team draw a lot between them, so our draws don't hurt too much. I think 9 will get us through but obviously would prefer 10 as that should definitely be enough.

10 is what we went out with last season, but it is usually enough.
Maribor easily dispatch Panathinaikos, i think, so that can't be taken as a gimme especially away from home. Beating Pana and Maribo at home is essential though as i don't think we want to be relying on beating Lazio in Italy
