CB uses very few words, but maybe we should all actually read them. He said that Mittal was not interested, Bhatia may be doing this himself - he is undoubtedly very wealthy in his own right. We all, including myself, jump to conclusions without actually seeing what is in front of us. On the other hand, CB may have got it wrong. What I don't understand is everyone's desire to prove him wrong. If you think he is a wum, ignore him. Ff you want to believe him, then read his words carefully and don't misinterpret them.
Fair point about Bhatia, Roller, although since the Mittals are only increasing their shareholding by 12%, I would have thought Lakshmi would run to that. But I may be wrong. If CB does get stick, it'll be because he has given strong impression that he knew a lot more than what seemed obvious (Fernandes interest) as reported in the press. He was giving nods and winks about the Russian until quite recently, telling us that Russians like to do thing behind the scenes. Now, he may yet be proved correct - perhaps the Russian stands behind Fernandes - if not, I'd be interested in his explanation about why he was quite so certain some way down the line...but, hey, he's made the board more colourful so I haven't got any particular beef...

As Bernie stated there was more than one interested party. Fernandes was one of the four. Those are the facts.
The quote actually says Bhatia 45%. I'm possibly reading too much into this, but maybe Bhatia is buying Mittal's shares. We are all sure that Fernades doesn't have the money required, so let's wait and see. It may be that Fernandes is a form of front for Mordashov and this is Bernie exacting some sort of revenge on Mittal - we believe that Mittal and Mordy don't get on, don't we.
There's a plot there Roller. Fernandes is a front for Mordy, so that Eccles can exact revenge. Except that Mittal has sniffed it out, and is selling up to his son in law...it sounds just as credible as any other permutation...let's hope all the speculation ends tomorrow
