Only votes submitted can be counted, just as with any vote, if people don't vote, they don't count. If 70% vote against the name change, however big the vote sample is, then the FA will consider that a vote against any name change. If AA claims that the half that didn't vote were votes for him, he'll be laughed at. Still, that's something he's probably got used to over the past week.
You maybe arent but i imagine you would do it on your own. CTWD arent having a march because it weakens your campaign and you know it. So you want to stop our owner i get it. Why i and others are so vociferous is we dont want to reap the whirlwind. As I said previously Nick Thompson had it spot on some desperately want to go back to division 4 and 3000 in the ground. If CTWD want to do something direct all this at the council and lobby them, they're elected and have to respond.
Apart from Mussie, who claims he wants us back in the Championship, I don't know of a single poster on any board who would rather we were playing at a lower level, so Nick was completely wrong. As for the council, we offered to get involved at the meeting, but AA made it quite clear that he wouldn't ever talk to the council again and could no longer fund the development now anyway, as he's used all his money at City.
Just so I can be clear in my mind, is this really a thread about numbers liable to turn up for a march we're not having?
Why can't you believe that this really is as simple as wanting to keep the name? Why does it have to be that we want 'the good old days' back? There's nothing to suggest that's the case. The only reason I can see that someone would believe that is if they wanted to believe that in order to strengthen their weak position. That's exactly what Thompson was doing. He knows full well that those fans he insulted are the same ones that will be at Swansea on a Monday night in December to support his team but he said it anyway.
It doesn't take a lot of balls to do what the major clubs want. As in all politics with a small p, is Assem Allam winning enough friends. Do Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, Everton want to move from traditional British football names to American style names? Was Assem Allam's interview on BBC5 an advert they want for the Premier League? Is Hull City a big enough club, financially or on the pitch to be able to get what it wants at the drop of a "its my business nobody tells me what to do"? Saying No to Hull City Tigers Limited's application is a big deal because we are Premier League. But it isn't as a big a deal as saying no to Manchester United and Manchester City if they say, in private conversations, it will destroy our traditions. When you play with the big boys you play by their rules until you are big enough to change them. All of this may be conjecture, but we won't know until the application is in and the vote taken.
My wife and I have a protest march, sometimes with others, sometimes on our own, every match. The campaign has been clear from day one. Firstly after the Cardiff march we turned our attention to convincing supporters our name was important. This we have broadly done. There is no organisation or message board in favour of the name change. Even on this board the last poll was in favour of Hull City. The only real test of our support is an official ballot of all supporters, which is what we have asked for. Secondly, we knew that we only had a slim chance of persuading Assem Allam to keep Hull City as the playing name. We were offered the meeting and put our case. It wasn't successful. Finally the campaign, as it said at the beginning is aimed at persuading the FA to reject the application. We have had no other motives or objective. Our campaign is focused on that end because it is the only way, short of buying the family out, that we can save the name Hull City. We are not going to be diverted from that path unless somebody shows us a better one. We have been clear in our objectives and campaign methods and have built support for our strategy. I find somebody opposed to our campaign demanding we march and calling us chicken when we don't a bit childish.
You really are becoming a political party. Learning how not to answer questions brilliant. Get some candidates in the next local elections its the way forward.
I agree, an excellent piece and every article ever written about this crazy name change has been just as scathing and incredulous about the idea and the ranting of our owner is just making us a laughing stock.
Yeah I get that, but surely the only real vote sample that counts is the actual one, which should be Season Ticket holders? I genuinely can't see how, for reasons you've already explained, how they could canvass all fans because theres no way to know if they are who they say they are. At the moment, all the forums/sites vote represent is small opinion polls. I still don't accept even 5k voting against, from a pool of 20k, represents a majority of views. It would be an interesting poll that is for sure.
HDM, OSCx2, Not606xseveral. All against the name change and represent totally different demographics to the fan sites. I've posted this all before but you're ignoring it.
Jules, I missed this last bit of the article which is quite funny as well. Fleet Spurs claim they feel “really intimidated by Tottenham’s heavy-handed approach” and that it will cost them a couple of grand to change their badge, even though they do not have a penny to their name. Unlike the England Under-21 *captain Andre Wisdom, who was forced to abandon his Porsche in a muddy ditch last *weekend, claiming his satnav sent him into a forest. The owner of *football’s most ironic surname, a confirmed member of the ‘computer says no’ generation, has a *lucrative future. And the more you end up paying in TV* *subscriptions, the more expensive the cars Wisdom will be driving into the woods. It’s as certain as bears sh*tting in them.
I know i say im not to bothered if we change the name to Hull Tigers......to be honest im not. However if there was a vote for pass holders i would vote NO to a name change....id get my 2 juniors to vote no also. I wish all the protesters good luck.... It just doesnt seem such a big deal to me thats all.. I think the Allams are great owners and maybe i fear them walking away more then a name change.... Heres to City beating Palace on saturday. 3-1
From PLT ------------ I dare say your right PLT and im wrong. I just dont want the Allams to f off when finally after all these years things are great on the pitch. Long may it continue.. Like you i will still be going if we end up in league 8.....though im not sure if the 2 juniors will... Gtrrr
You could do it at the turnstiles, as you're going in they scan your card and you have to vote yes or no before the turnstile lets you in.
How far could these subservient, apolitical, ‘all protest is meaningless’, everything has a price/everything is for sale ‘consumers’ could actually be pushed by AA before they’d whimper any discord?
