Hopefully the message has been sent to every player what the consequences will be if they try it on again.

It matters not where in the world it happens. It is not the country, but the player. It was Cronje from South Africa and Butt from Pakistan, but there are many suspicions inbetween of players who played for other countires that could not be proved.

The fact that these are now convicted of these crimes, surely the bans imposed prior to their trials seem insufficent. All three should be banned for life.

It's an absolute joke that they've all been sent to prison. All they did was cheat a dodgy bookie by throwing a couple of no balls. Their actions had no material impact on the poutcome of the match. Oh, and they were set up by a newspaper which is of such high moral fibre that it has been closed down.

The News Of The World's involvement is irrelevant in the moral standing of the players. The were caught match fixing, in essence they commited fraud, and quite rightly the've been sent to prison like any other person would be.

Considering the maximum sentance for But could have been 7 years, he got 30 months, and let's face it will probably only serve 15 months I think thats a pretty adequate punishment.

Sending them to prison will also prove something of a deterent to other players who are tempted to indulge in match fixing.

Finally a couple fo no balls was all they were found guilty of, but spot betting can easily affect outcomes, and wasn't Majeed filmed suggesting he could fix results of tests?
