Looks like a few cooks are getting the chop............. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/21143847 Brawn and Fry both to go!? edit: ah never mind, Silver got there first!
Toto said Brawn was safe, but I still remember that story with regards of Mercedes trying to get Horner to replace him only in Nov-Dec period last year. Reckon the BBC speak the truth more so than Wolf in my opinion.
Would have to have a brown filling of some description with a neatly trimmed, but stylish crust around the edges.
Sky not allowing comments to be made on the Lowe to Mercedes story Considering Sky F1 bum licks McLaren all season, they get rewarded for that so it's no surprise that they wont delve deeper into McLaren because it's true lol.
Wonder if this was the cause of Lowe leaving McLaren with Button saying it was the "worst McLaren" he had driven: http://www1.skysports.com/formula-1...-27-as-the-worst-car-he-has-driven-at-McLaren
Given that thats nothing but some seriously shoddy journalism, i'll go with no. Anyway i am prepared to admit Mercedes are certainly more committed than i thought, but they still need to do more than throw money at the issue and sack people to win me over. I still dont see them consistently beating Ferrari, Red Bull and McLaren.
Lauda = Helmut Wolf = Horner Lowe/Owen = Newey Lewis = Vettel Rosberg = Webber Elliot = Prodromou Willis = Marshall I think Mercedes were trying a 96-05 Ferrari operation, with Brawn, Schumacher etc... But it looks like Mercedes want the same kind of structure as RBR rather than follow Ferrari's route of running a team, to Mercedes winning the WCC is just as valuable as the WDC. Let war commence I say!
Lowe will probably stay at Brackley most of the time while Owen would be his right hand following the team all round the world. Wolff is shadowing Brawn by the looks of it team principles are just there to tell the minions/directors what to do, he was doing ok for Williams in my opinion and they looked to be getting back on track as he was pretty well involved in everything at Williams.
It will either result in massive success or catastrophic failure, can certainly see that Mercedes was the risky option for Lewis. If I was a driver I would prefer the stability at McLaren
Commentator: "And Lewis Hamilton wins the 2015 WDC and becomes the youngest quadruple WDC of all time." Kyle: *Groans* ASC: "Another pie for Kyle!"
They can throw the kitchen sink at the team but it won't guarantee success. What the team needs is some consistency, some continuity and some faith from those at the top. Breathing down the managements necks, chopping and changing personnel and implying failure to produce could = closure will unlikely bring results. This is why I can't be doing with manufacturers in the sport as they're only interested in flogging more cars. If you're going racing, do it for the love of it.
Of course, you are correct that there are no guarantees in F1 but Mercedes are targeting 2014 as their first hope of a realistic title challenge; not 2013. Ongoing restructuring is being done with that in mind, rather than pretending they can do it this year. Sponsors and personnel are well aware of this and have realistic expectations of what they can achieve this year. Ross Brawn is under serious threat in the long run (or perhaps even in the short term). I believe Mercedes kept him on a combination of the miracle he achieved in first safe-guarding most of the Honda personnel's jobs and winning the title in the same year, and some sort of romantic dream based on a hapless (hopeless?) Schumacher. This idea was in part encouraged by Mr. Nice Guy: Norbert Haug. Amongst Team Principals, 'zero to hero' has never had a better example than Brawn, so one cannot blame Haug for maintaining the faith. But this dream was a castle made of sand. And as we all know, sands can shiftâ¦
I agree, evolution not revolution. But I think the board believe this "car" is beyond saving and need a new foundation to start from as this lot are doing nothing.
I kind of agree with you but, aside from the win in China, the team has been going backwards; fresh eyes and minds can spot what's going wrong as well as providing the fresh impetus which the team desperately needs right now.
