when? playing for madrid he may have been. i have seen nothing of him so far to say wow what a player they have wish we had him etc, like i said sanchez dif story, now he is class, ozil for me nah. sanchez and wellbeck were better signings for me for arsenal than ozil.
As gerrez said, when used correctly. He's a playmaker, not a winger, and when he plays (or gets into) his natural position, he shows his quality. He burnt out a bit towards the end of last season after a great start, but he's starting to look very lively again now. He's a proper player.
Ozil has been quality for Arsenal almost every time he's been played as a number ten. Wenger insists on playing him from the left in a 4231 system though and it stifles him. This happened against us last season when we beat them 5-1
Regardless of his performances for Arsenal, if they were to offer us Ozil for a straight swap for Coutinho, It'd be a no brainer for me. Ozil would be perfect for us imo
Ozil had basically identical stats to silva last season for games played, goals and assists in all competitions. He lead the assist charts in the league up until just before Christmas, where he struggled with a bit of burnt out and being used out of position followed by an injury which disrupted the second half of the season for him. 7 goals and 15 assists in a new team in a new country is nothing to be ashamed of. He's done very well for every team he has been a part of at club level in the three best leagues in Europe and at international level resulting in a World Cup winners medal. You'd be absolutely bonkers to think coutinho is better than him or has done anything near enough to be put in the same category as ozil and silva.
who f'n crowned him that... ozil is a bit light weight and doesn't give enoug.. silva is the best one named and always was! right now coutinho isn't even a first team player IMO. he needs a slap and a wake up call as i think getting a brazil call has gone totally to his head.
As much as I wanted us to sign Erikson and I think it was a mistake ignoring him, he wouldn't have made any difference to this season as its not a position that is a problem.
All...? Coutinho's been playing poor but we have options (Coutinho, Sterling, Lallana, Markovic, Pacheco mkII, etc) in the creative areas. The problem isn't those players, it is one or two in front of them that other little to ****all movement. If there was said movement, Coutinho wouldn't look as bad either since he'd have options. We've gone back in time two years to when Kenny was in charge. We tried to play a team around Andy Carroll that operated best when Andy Carroll wasn't involved. We've obviously not built a team around Mario Balotelli but I'm convinced the team would work better should his presence be removed. The problem now is, who replaces him? #notblamingmario #blamingbrod #****summer #boughtaapplewhenweneededaorange
Dave, I think most of Europe must have missed the game at Anfield last season and are just basing their opinion of Ozil on his performance of the last 3/4 years. Short sighted i know, but thats folk for you
