What would we all do without your immense knowledge of all things football?? And your selfless eagerness to give us all the benefit of your knowledge, even if you are wrong at least as often as you're right. And I'll never stop asking questions, because unlike you I don't claim to know everything.
But you're being ridiculous. All teams have these games and yet you seem to think it's just a Chelsea thing. Ask City if it was a Chelsea thing when they played Norwich. It is football and trying to be flippant doesn't change that fact. You are a truly awful supporter, you only ever find fault. Our very own Victor Meldrew.
What's ridiculous is pretending a problem doesn't exist. Of course every team has "these games", assuming you mean poor, that's common knowledge. That IS called football. We have a specific problem that is well documented even on 606, well discussed and well known by most supporters. We too often play strongly against big teams and poorly against poor teams .Have done for years, and still do. What other teams do is of little interest to me, but that's what Chelsea does, that's what I was discussing with others when you put your two bobs worth in. There was no moaning, no denigrating the team, no criticism of individual players, just an observation that this problem is still there. Apparently this is enough to cause you to leap to the defence of the Team on behalf of all "true supporters". To deny things and reign down cynicism from above on those who see things without rose coloured glasses, that's being a truly awful supporter, not a term that I would normally apply to anyone. Our very own "Blind Freddy ". Anyway, I don't do 606 to argue with those who's opinions I can't change, so that's my last word on this subject. Fire away.
The reason why players get revved up for big games is called human nature. In spite of this: Last season we drew v Liverpool home and away, lost to United at home, and lost to City away. The season before we lost to United away, drew at home, lost to City away, lost to Liverpool home and away, and lost to Arsenal at home. In 10/11 we lost to Liverpool home and away, United away, Arsenal at home, City away. This season for the first time since we won the title in 09/10, we are beating the top sides. That's down to Jose Enjoy The reason we are not finishing off poor sides is in part due to not Jose getting a decent striker and poor judgement in finishers the transfer market in the last four years.
No question a good striker would have put us maybe even out of reach by now, and I also won't argue that we are looking better and stronger as the year goes on, with still the odd hiccup. This season we drew West Ham, drew WBA, drew Man U, lost Everton, drew Spurs, lost Newcastle, drew WBA, lost Stoke, lost Sunderland drew Arsenal. Enough ammunition I believe to support those who think we still can't always lift for lots of "easy " games. I'm with you when you say so far so good, and we are in transition, but very long term we need to resolve our patchy form. I think we will, and I think reinforcements have already been chosen. Just haven't a clue who or when.
