Match Preview;
This Wednesday we head to Oxford, to face an Oxford side who are fresh from a cracking result on Saturday, when they beat Sheffield United to prevent Sheffield United from taking top spot in the table. They have won two, lost two and drawn one in their last five, and sit 18th, so just two places and one point behind us.

As for us, I saw the line up on Saturday afternoon, ready to pay a tenner, but decided to head to the park with the kids. It was a beautiful afternoon, sun was shinning, and I went between badminton with my daughter and football with my son. Good decision. All reports I have read on here, and from the highlights suggest it was a pretty dull game, with few chances for either side. Going into this one, we'll have to wait and see who will be back from injury and available. I'm disappointed we are in this position, but I'm reassured to see that teams below us, potentially with the exception of Derby, aren't stringing wins together and catching up with us. Another win, and I'll be reassured, another two wins and we'll be over the 50 point mark, and I'll begin to relax.

Enjoy if you are making the trip...I've actually done this one, and it is a lovely bike ride...team news to go up if/when on the official, and as always...

I have got a ticket from QPR, I live just outside Oxford

My friend the Watford supporter also lives in Oxford about 2 miles from the ground, bought a ticket for the Oxford v Watford match in the home area (I should point out he is 65, and as timid as a mouse).

Two days before the match his ticket was cancelled and he was banned from the ground. They had phoned up Watford to check people who had bought a ticket for that match and found his name on the Watford season ticket holders list, so they cancelled the ticket. Amazing

That is some impressive policing by the club. Let's hope all their focus goes into keeping fans in the right places and not on the football side of things.

Oxford is quite close to me but the ground is in such an irritating place that it’s a bastard to get to by train and a pain by car. But apparently not by bike! Won’t be going and, after last Saturday, having serious doubts about the Bristol City game.

The first half of the home fixture was one of the worst games of football I have ever seen, at any level. But at least we won. The same result without having to watch it, would be welcome, but I have no expectation.

Who will be the makeshift striker? Will it be a defensive set-up and playing on the counter? Or will Marti wait till we're two down before sending Sutton on? Hard to find any enthusiasm with our tactics at present. Let's hope Oxford are over-confident after Saturday's win...
 
Maybe play Nardi up front and Walsh in goal......

What a desperate situation to find ourselves in.....
 
Our best attacking option this season, even when every striker has been available, is Jimmy Dunne.
Now, playing him up top would make Marti look crazy despite his attacking stats this season.

Injury Update

As we head into the final six fixtures of the 2024/25 season, the club would like to provide an injury update.

All timelines are subject to players continuing on their current rehabilitation paths.

Rayan Kolli has returned to full training and is available for selection.

Michael Frey is making good progress and is targeting rejoining the group towards the end of this week.

Steve Cook is currently offloaded due to an ongoing foot injury.

Ilias Chair is now into his third week of pitch-based activity and is progressing well. He is expected to rejoin group training next week.

Alfie Lloyd is undergoing follow-up tests after sustaining an injury against Cardiff City at the weekend.

Žan Celar is into his fourth week of pitch-based rehabilitation while Jake Clarke-Salter and Harvey Vale are anticipated to start their on-pitch activities later this month.

Going to be a nervous one tonight. Last time I went there we lost 5-0 in the pre season friendly the week before the season opener - that was one of the worse performances I’ve seen. Hopefully it won’t be as bad as that!
