Other than "we will get hammered tomorrow", I actually agree with most of this . *Twilight zone music plays*
Should have gone to Specsavers https://www.safc.com/news/team-news/2019/october/press-conference-v-oxford-united
Main thing is to not get injuries, if that's the case then I'm happy. One thing the cup can really do for Sunderland though is if you get a big club it will remind everyone of the size of Sunderland. Having a Liverpool (or any prem club) come to SoL will get the place rocking even in defeat (and would also produce a decent amount of gate receipts). Sunderland needs to keep showing they are a big fish in a small pond, that can get forgotten at times but a big cup match could be timely.
True, but I agree with your first comment, I dont think we can afford to take our eye of the league situation for the sake of a cup run, both teams are in a similar position in this respect and our options should in theory be better than Oxfords, so I expect a close game with us going through, but if Oxford really commit themselves to a cup run I think they could beat us, and I wont loose any sleep as long as we rest key players and still put in a decent performance, we will soon find out.
Would be good to win and we should as it's Oxford, but if we did lose I wouldn't be too disappointed as getting promoted is the number on priority. Will still be watching cheering wishing us to win at the time, but at the moment feel like its a bit of a free hit. Chance for the manager to try get his style of play and tactics with the lads.
Oxford look like they are taking this game seriously, this will be a good test for us, but I can not figure out what formation we are putting out, is it 4/4/2 ? or 3 at the back ?
