Enjoy your break in Spain RTB, but don't take too long off from preparing your next brilliant match thread Of course, I'm hoping for a win, but imo a draw would be the difference between needing 82 points or needing 84 if we lose, so I wouldn't be unhappy with a draw. Wycombe Plymouth and Sheff Wed all have difficult away trips at Gillingham, Burton and Bolton respectively, so we may not lose any ground. Going for a 1-1 in this, but hope I'm ecstatic after a win at 5pm on Saturday!
Top thread as per usual RTB , thanks again, enjoy your trip and return, with another dutiful 3 points in the bag.
Neil's press conference ... https://safc.com/news/team-news/2022/april/oxford-united/press-conference-oxford-away
My point exactly mate. In other words, if we keep that clean sheet, I'd back us to score, ahead of them...
....but we have a better chance of scoring than them, and therefore, a clean sheet is a better chance of a win, in my eyes.
cheers once again RTB... i am liking AN more and more and think we may well have dodged a bullet with keane, just a shame he got all the publicity when in truth the club might not even have decided on who was replacing LJ. good to have a few more options around the pitch and i do expect to see evans starting, would still prefer someone else (onien?) as captain though and would prefer to see evans being more mobile/on the ball but he could well be one of the reasons we are not conceding as many now so as long as that continues he can start the rest of the games for me.
The biggest shame in the whole Keane saga is I believe if he didn't declare his interest we would have had Neil in within the week. We would likely have a few more points as a result! I do believe he was the first choice before sacking Johnson but Keane being interested made them look at him as the bigger pull with fans and media etc...
100% agree marra, my thoughts entirely, keane and defoe threw a lot up in the air and i honestly feel (even more so now) that they were distractions the club could well have done without...maybe earlier in the season it could have been different but with so few games left to try to stop the rot and turn things round we needed an 'instant' replacement, those extra points we may have managed would be most welcome now.
Great thread RTB and enjoy your break. 3 points is all that matters. Not bothered how we get them it’s just important that we do.
Keane showing interest put the club in a terrible position. If they'd refused to interview him the supporters would've thought the club were showing no ambition. No win situation but we may have won in the end.
No can’t make it we are away for a weeks break. I’ve taken her to Oxford and Lincoln for breaks before when we’ve played them but she has cottoned on to my trickery.
Win on Saturday and I think we’ll make the play-offs comfortably. Lose and it’ll be a tough task. Massive game, I just hope we turn up.
Narrow Oxford win. Still don’t see us taking many of the chances we will create and can see Oxford nicking it 2-1.
Wow, almost word for word the same as your prediction for Gillingham ...spooky! "Its another must win but I think we will suffer a narrow loss having dominated the play and created (but not taken) the best chances."
Brilliant press conference that like. Love how focused he is and he’s showing the players the right leadership.
