Owen Hargreaves And only last month he said: "I don't want to chase something. If I get the right fit I will go for it. "But I am not forced to do anything and if I can't get back to the level I used to, I don't want to play." Sounds fair enough to me, the right attitude coming from a player in his position.
Think I read that Hargreaves was actually fit for the last third of the season with City. Also the key thing here is he is training with us to retain fitness, not attain fitness, which suggests to me he is fit. I'd take him definitley, at the very least he is a winner so if he can bring a bit of that mentality to the squad I cant see any harm in it.
He's not old at 31. Sparky's got him in for training to have a good look at him. A fit Hargreaves would be a definite yes in my book, but he's go to show some resilience in the next few weeks
Exactly he may outdo Dyer by lasting 5 minutes in his first appearance. As for the quote saying they favour him over Derry you must be mad as Derry would last a season and would get my vote as a squad player.
I hear the 'Fools' are after that youngster BennyYoon, but I hear he's worried about the lack of ambition there!
I couldn't agree less. What does Derry have to do to convince people like you of his value as a squad player. Two seasons of total commitment and actual delivery even in the PL is clearly not enough for some.
I am not sure that Derry will make the 25 We have strength in depth in the midfield now and Derry may be the one to miss out A fully fit Hargreaves would be an asset to any premiership teams 25 but obviously would be a huge gamble with his injury problems
think it could b a good move if it is a pay as you play contract..... It covers Barton's ban saves us spending on another cm and if he cant cut it will get rid in January where we can buy again if needed or Barton should be back. I just think it will help as i dont want to rush Faurlin back into the squad if Hargreaves can prove his fitness will be a good addition, don't forget this guy has played for Bayen Munich and Man u and played in some big games and would bring experience to the squad
Personally, can't take the Hargreaves thing seriously. Was always a bit lightweight with Bayern but fit okay in their system. Same with England for quite a while until the year (about 10 years ago) when he suddenly gained strength and positional sense and became our best holding midfielder. The inevitable injury put paid to all that. Haven't seen him rise anywhere those heights every since.
