Well, any lingering thoughts of a miracle were washed away by the worst footballing side in the Premier League today. Our abysmal and abject surrender was symptomatic of our season, a disjointed and uninspiring display by a team that obviously cares more about their bank accounts than the club that pays them.
Isn't it ironic that the coup de grace was delivered by Crouchy both in the goal he scored and the penalty he won? A player we were linked to both at the start and January window of this season and who isn't a regular in the Stoke side.
I just left the ground today feeling a foreboding of what will come in the close season and what we face next season. Anyone who thinks this motley crew will bounce us straight back up needs their head examined, there is a malaise like a cancer that is afflicting our club and it will take major, major surgery to rid us of it. The fact so few of the team acknowledged the fans at the end, those who endured today's shyte, speaks volumes about what is wrong with our club and why I don't believe we'll be making a speedy return.
Sorry if this is depressing but I've had enough...
