Kids could be taken from Newcastle to the SOL for classroom lessons and vice versa. Maybe with mixed classes so the kids get to meet each other. Maybe the clubs could pool resources and have a single community project covering Tyne and Wear. To be blunt Racism isn't as big an issue as the divide between the communities in the North East, a more general Respect campaign could be adopted. Maybe Delilah could have a love child with that Magpie? (all okay'd by Samson of course!)
I wasn't targeting Hendon especially i could have been in a dozen places in Sunderland on a night out and got the same sort of bother. I'm sure Sunderland lads get the same **** out in Shields. Having distinctive accents doesn't help. Hendon's not so bad..there are worse places in Tyne and Wear. At least Hendon has a community and a spirit that other places don't have. I was on the 319 bus to Jarrow once and the bus made it's way along York Avenue a Sunderland lass on the seats behind said to her mate...'I thought Jarra was a ****'ole..it's not so bad ere'... That's the problem..kids never leave there immediate postal area and because of this (and historical factors) grow up with a dislike and fear of other areas in the North East. It would be great if the clubs for the sake of the two lads could get together and create a lasting legacy which ends the hate.
Well I've been all over & would happilly have a pint in Hendon as I would Walker, Toxteth, Peckham or Easterhouse. Like you say though, let's end the hate.
I used to live in Levenshulme and the local had sawdust on the floor and bullet holes in the windows. The beer was fantastic.
I've never had any bother in Shields as it is a very mixed area. Going back to the topic, yes this is a great gesture where Sunderland fans have recognised the fact that two genuine supporters of their biggest rivals have died in tragic circumstances. however, don't let anybody be fooled that this could lead to a long term cessation of violence on derby days, and I will be surprised if there is no violence at the next one at St James's.
Yes. I was a ****hole but the people were great. And only a stones throw from the best curry houses south of Ocean road.
http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spor...ws/alan-pardew-thanks-sunderland-fans-7463753 Fair play Alan!!! Nice words!
I remember what you lads & the mags did when my Janie died, they were great about it & I'll never forget it. £14 hundred nicker raised for cancer recearch. Hopefully it will help other folk.
Aye mate. Same as with you, nothing anyone does can bring someone back, but anything at all that can give a bit of respite can never be underestimated, never.
Well, I'm gonna be honest with you. I might come over as a right soft twat but I have tears in my eyes atm. I am an emotional man, I open my heart to everyone. Things like this transcend all rivalry imo.
I think we can all see that in you mate, and that's in no way a bad trait to have. End of the day when all is said and done, we're all human, and for the most part folk are thoroughly decent underneath it all, people DO give a ****.
Nowt wrong with that marra.. My family can't understand how I get thru 4-6 months away doing what I do and then I get emotional watching any old sh*te on TV. It takes a bigger man .. So they say marra! Chin Up
Lads and lasses, a young girl is in intensive care in Newcastle's RVI after being seriously injured in Mowbray Park in Sunderland over the weekend. I know every single one of us on these boards will hope that the 14-year old pulls through. Her father says the next few days are crucial. Here's hoping she is ok. http://www.sunderlandecho.com/news/...-says-next-few-days-will-be-crucial-1-6742863
