SUNDERLAND are NOT looking to sign Ruud van Nistelrooy this summer, despite reports linking the club to the former Manchester United star.

The Dutchman seems destined to return to England next season having already signalled his intent to leave German club Hamburg for one last payday in the Premier League.

And, perhaps because of Steve Bruce’s own Manchester United connections, Sunderland have been among the clubs heavily linked with a player whose goalscoring record has been outstanding down the years for PSV Eindhoven, United and Real Madrid.

But the Black Cats are not involved in the chase for a player who will turn 35 before the start of next season and who has had only a moderate season at Hamburg by his own standards, with 12 goals from 35 appearances

Bruce knows he must bring in three, possibly even four strikers this summer, and has a long list to consider as he goes into the close season, but van Nistelrooy is not on it.

Like another couple of non-targets for the Wearsiders – Robbie Keane and Michael Owen – van Nistelrooy would be very expensive, in terms of wages, to bring in and there’s no getting away from the fact that his best days are long behind him.

Not wantint to spoil things but Klose was also mentioned last week
Owen Klose and RVN the total age of our 3 forwards would be 90 plus
It would also knock the average of the team up and Bruce would not have the excuse of syaing we have a young team lol

Don't worry its not going to happen

if we're gonna get any players in thier twilight years, to bolster the squad and ruffle a few feathers,

craig bellamy could definetly do that....
