Here is my blog about those 'hidden' gems. It's from one-and-a-half month ago.
And yes i named Assaidi early July for a possible transfer to the Uk so you guys could've known he was coming if you had read it:tongue:

Looks a good signing but at 24 I'm not expecting us to have unearthed a superstar to be. It feels rather like the Maxi deal, although maxi was older- but similar price, position, and slightly underated player who performs admirably as a sub?

Thats always the worry in these kind of cases but some players just need to be at the right club/ right time etc to blossom fully, lets hope he is one of those.

For a decent LB or RB it's best to look the other way. There are one or two decent players but that's it. Nothing special. The Eredivisie is an attacking league in which the midfielders and strikers are dominantly present in the talent pool. If you want potential world class strikers or midfielders then the Dutch league is the place to be for scouts. There are a couple of central defenders that seem alright but all of them need to make a big leap if they want to be ready for the EPL.

Reminds me of Sinclair, though more skilful. And we probably saved about £8 million on his price tag too.

I was noticing that from a few of the videos I have been looking at, and I think about 70% of Oussama's goals wouldn't be possible in the prem. You get the distinct impression that defenders are not allowed to come back as far as the 6 yard box, they all seem to slow up and watch the goals happening. Is there some unwritten rule over there, that once you have gotten behind the defenders, they are no longer allowed to be in play? It is so strange to watch, I'm sat there wondering what the defence is playing at?

I still think we have made a good buy, and that is based on one split second move @ 1:30 in this video, linked to on the official web-site, and it is that kind of footballing brain that I want to see at Liverpool, it is almost like puppet mastery, he knows what the defender is going to do and megs him. it is beautiful to behold, and if he can do this in a red shirt, I will be a happy man.

There are plenty of other examples in the video, of how he knows what the other player is going to do, and so he does something else. You can't train that into someone. It may take him time to read English players, but I'm hoping he can hit the ground running.

Defending is piss poor in the Eredivisie at times. But it makes the league unpredictable and fun. 3.26 goals per game on average last season, third highest in Europe i think. And 0.28 red cards per game, second highest in Europe. There's always action in an Eredivisie match.

I'm still not sure who he is. Perhaps this is why the journos missed it, cause barely anyone has heard of him.

Could be good, we could be getting a decent player at a cheap price because no one has heard of him

I may be wrong, but I actually think Suarez has more success dribbling in the PL than he did in the Eredivise, or has at least maintained a level.

Let's hope for more of the same from this guy too. Not scared to take a man on, even if he gets tackled. Once Downing gets tackled, that's his lot for the game.

  15. IMO, Assuadi will be a squad/impact player, I reckon the first choice front three will be Borini, Downing and Suarez <ok>

They did Ze. My Liverpool reporter mate told me on Wednesday. We will also get Sahin, but Tello is now very unlikely. They won't sell Carroll unless they get the right money/deal, but he will never start and he knows this. Rodgers was given 24 million for signings and anything over this has to come from sales <ok>

Sahin is still 50/50 IMO - I hope he agrees to sign today but I heard that Sahin is waiting for the situation AFC and Song to be sorted out before he makes his decision.

  19. I'm not surprised but...

How many papers would 'Assaidi to Liverpool' have sold...?

Re. Assaidi - I've mentioned a few times that we lack a player who is unpredictable and can create that one moment of magic to win a match. Assaidi could be that player to join Gerrard and Suarez as potential match winners. For £3m, you can't complain. He will inevitably try some tricks which won't come off and it will frustrate the fans and players but he seems to have the confidence to keep trying them over and over again, and I can't see him shying away from it.

Pace, trickery and versatility - I feel he will link up well with Borini and Suarez, interlinking and switching positions.
