Poortlviet was completely out of his depth and similar to Martin this season.

It is interesting to see the names listed as we appear to have so many poor candidates. Martin should not be be that list although i think of the lack goals and wins shows he was out of his depth more than being useless. There are so many candidates from that list yet none inspired the hatred of Branfoot. I have never encountered anything like that since.

I would nominate Branfoot purely for the long ball football he inspired. Saints were effectively down before Redknapp took charge .

What makes a manager the worst ? Results, playing style, relegation, how they fitted the Saints culture, personality or tenure. For me, Branfoot was something else. Only Nathan Jones comes close. However, we have made some dreadful appointments since late 1990s.

Paul Sturrock should never had been appointed. I tjink he was a Rpert Lowe appointment but half of tbe then directors were hostile towards him. Never got a decent chance but he was mismatched with Saints.

I can’t believe that Branfoot is being polled as most fans won’t even know him but he was atrocious. His football was dire. Do you remember Terry Hurlock that signed. What a brutal thug he was

Sturrock set off my PTSD from the Branfoot era,

Apart from Selles I don’ any of them have managed any modicum of success since they got sacked
