    You don't need that sort of formula when it comes to English players.Its more to do with ''supply and demand''.Using Glen Johnson as an example.He was deemed to be the best right back in England and Portsmouth knew that and slapped a hefty fee on him.There is also another reason.They wanted to make some money on him due to the fact they already owed Liverpool £7 million out of the Crouch transfer.So if they sold GJ for £12 million.They would have only made a £1 million return on their investment.£12 million - £7 million(Crouch money)-£4 million(Outlay)=£1 million.Instead they agreed this:
    £18.5 million-£7 million(Crouch money)-£4 million(outlay)=£7.5 million return on their investment.Which is deemed to be fair as he was deemed at the time to be the best right back in England.However if the supply had to be greater,they may not have got such a figure.
