Let's be positive about AFCON.
It's a good thing that we have players at the club of the calibre to play in such a tournament.
It provides an opportunity for other players to show that they deserve an opportunity to play in the Premier league.
I hope when players return from AFCON they have concerns that they may not get their places back in the team.

I hope that when players return from AFCON they’re fit and ready to go!

Not sure if it's a confirmed squad, but it doesn't look like Adingra has been selected for Ivory Coast.

Anyone know if and when the Senegal squad is announced, will they put a deadline on Diarra’s fitness?
Can’t find the date specifically but some Facebook account posted that it’s this week dunno if it’s reliable but all squads must be confirmed by the 11th.

It's a really quick turnaround isn't it. Squads announced by 11th, and our players leave 3 days later after the derby.

Anyone clued up on the tournament and who’s likely to win it, and how quickly should our players be drip fed back In? Could we start getting a couple back by Spurs/Brentford?

"But that's not allowed, the fifa cartel now are allowing sunderland to keep their best players just because they play us". You can hear the cries from the ****wits coming.
All I've had is... "FIFA are allowing you to keep your players for the derby!!!"

No dickhead, FIFA have set the same date for every club <doh>

Morocco are favourites but it’s wide open with a number of teams standing a decent chance, should be an excellent tournament

Squads have not been officially announced yet (as far as i know) but we have 7 players in contention for 6 teams, they are:
Morocco (Talbi)
Mozambique (Reinildo)
Ivory Coast (Adingra)
Senegal (Diarra)
Burkina Faso (Traore)
Congo (Sadiki, Masuaku)

Morocco and Senegal are considered amongst the betting favourites, Ivory Coast and Congo are ones to watch but it would be considered an upset if they manage to get to the final. Mozambique and Burkino Faso are considered also-rans by the bookies, although the latter have upset the odds in recent times.

Regular group games occur between 21st December and 31st December, so realistically we could see Traore and Reinildo arrive back shortly after that. My presumption is that they could be available for the Spurs (A) match on January 4th.

Round of 16 occur between Jan 3rd and Jan 6th. Quarters take place on the 9th and 10th. Semi's on the 14th and the final on the 18th.

Our fixtures during that period look like this:
Jan 1st - Man City (H)
Jan 4th - Spurs (A)
Jan 7th - Brentford (A)
Jan 17th - Palace (H)
Jan 24th - West Ham (A)

Diarra and sadiki play each other secomd game I think, if the former goes, so I’ll be keeping an eye on that. I don’t think adingra got called up last time so might be a bonus him staying, not that he’s playing much like.

Sadiki will leave a hole in the middle which Le Fee can fill, him vacating the wing means we will need more wingers and that's before Traore and Talbi being gone. Adingra will get games if he stays.

Yep, not as worried about it now. Time for thr rest of thr squad to step up. Cirkin amd mundle timely additions
