edit: before everyone goes who the **** is Bjorn Vleminckx there has only been 9 players throughout Europe scored more goals (this season) and he plays for a crap team in Holland (they finished 12th i think) he's a full Belgian international and 26 good lone striker imo and he's outscored every fwd we've been linked with

 

Don't think anyone will pay £8m for Bassong. He's not shown enough this season to make someone pay that. £5m probably.

Sturridge shot himself in the foot yesterday. I assume that's a 3 game ban at the start of next season.

 

This! Menez is unreal but I doubt we'll get him. Zogs would be a welcome improvement though.

Anyone else think Newcastle have policy of picking a favoured country and then concentrating on buying players from that country. A couple of years back it was Argentineans now it appears to be the French.

When they get bored of the French which country next I wonder?

Pretty sure the Bulgarians and Hungarians are bringing through a massive crop of quality youngsters at the minute?

 

Our au pair is Hungarian and she says the new youth coming through look far better than the current crop as the current crop are generally rubbish.

 

I think we need a new keeper, Harper is getting on and neither Krul or Forster are good enough in my opinion. I'd go for Paul Robinson or Ben Foster, though the latter is likely to be pricey.

We have 4 capable centre backs but if a good one was available I would take him i.e. Samba or someone like that.

I'm happy enough with Simpson as right back, there aren't many better that we would be able to attract. Perch (if not sold) and Raylor/Gosling can cover here.

Jose will be going so I'd like to see us go after Baines if he'd be interested. Everton are skint and could do with the money. If not maybe Olsson from Blackburn is worth a punt.

No new centre mids needed, we have Tiote/Barton/Guthrie/Gosling/Smith/Nolan/Perch etc

A new winger is needed, Charlie would be ideal but not sure if we could pull that one off. All the Jeremy Menez talk is exciting, he has realy quality. Jonas is decent and I'm happy enough with him in our first 11. Play Ben Arfa behind one striker with maybe Zog and Jonas on the wings. A young winger like Matty Phillips from Blackpool would be good too.

I think we need just the one striker, Sturridge would be my first choice and I'd also take Ba or Doyle at a push, at least he grafts.

Really don't agree about the Keeper situation. They're kids (as far keepers go) and will only improve. Joe Hart, De Gea, Neuer, are out of our league, but I see Krul and Forster sitting in the tier below in terms of quality and potential. Neither of them are the finished article by any means, but I'd 100% rather have them for the next 10 years than Paul Robinson for the next 4!
