I know, on MotD they froze the action and Pearce actually commented that he "just manages to stay onside" when you could clearly see from looking at the screen that he blatantly wasn't!

Yep definitely, and we need to win against the teams around us more this season as it looks like the top teams have stepped up a gear. Last season we were taking hardly any points off the teams around us but we made up for it by beating the big teams. We can't do that this year.
Definitely, people keep talking about the last 5 games which were against Chelsea, Arsenal, Cardiff, Man U and Man City. Man U was a cup game so has no bearing on whether we stay up, and ultimately from that run of games really we dropped 2 points, its the run from here to christmas that could well define our season. Again.
Completely agree and it will decide whether or not we are to stay in the PL and will also be a major factor in CH staying in charge.
And Elmander missed a sitter at the near post, so we could just as well call it 2-1, if it weren't for injuries to our main strikers. So basically a reasonable assessment suggests we lost 2-1 away to Man City. That would have been the fair outcome had luck been evenly spread, right? What the hell is all the fuss about?
You could argue we were unlucky and the injuries cost us dearly but the players on the day were utter sh*te, more like a league one team. No hiding from that.
i've just read the article in question, as usual it's fairly classless. talks about rvw being benched for the last few games when in fact we all know he is injured fails to mention we have played arsenal, spurs, man city, everton, saints and chelsea in our opening 10 fixtures suggests leoroy fer has failed to make an impact this season yet
i think you are getting confused. nobody is trying to justify our recent ineptitude. how could anyone even try?! but a number of people are trying to put it into some sort of context and it does make you realise that things aren't quite as suicidal as they may at first appear. and there is nothing wrong with doing that. or are you joking?
From what I have read some are saying that our recent poor run can be justified because they are big teams(Man City included), a thumping is almost expected.
well to a degree they are right. we've had a remarkably tough run of fixtures. i only felt we would get three points from our last four games and as it happens we only got one! i think you expect to be beaten heavily at least once a season - even some of the big boys get a thumping from time to time. perhaps not 7-0 mind!! does this mean expectations are too high? did people really think we would get more than three points from the last four games? the issue i and i assume most people have is not the poor run, but more to do with the last two games in manchester where we simply failed to compete. i can cope with losing (especially to good teams like them). i can even cope with being on the end of a thumping, so long as we play well and do all we can but that's the problem - we've rolled over two games in a row. that is not good enough but what has happened before during this season is not as clear cut and probably doesn't deserve the ridicule some are proposing. i optimistically predicted we'd have 13 points at this stage (i felt 11 was more likely). we are one win behind the more realistic of the two predictions. the last week has been abysmal but the next three games offer a chance to get back on track - that is where the focus should lie. if it goes belly-up then there might be need for action.
