David Healy did nothing for us despite being prolific with others...Tom Richie ( we bought from Bristol City) was s hite as well
The worst for me was probably Altidore. Players like Vaughan and Grigg etc are obviously worse players from a technical ability standpoint but Altidore started a lot of games and the expectation was simply much higher considering the season he had at AZ before.
Think the worst striker i've seen at Sunderland since i've been watching was Grigg. He simply didn't want to be here.
At one time we had a lad we got from Middlesburgh as our Number 9. He ended up scoring 63 in 74 appearances. Brian something or other (And YES, I am a doddery old fool)
Dave Halliday (156 in 166 games) can't have been bad either. If anyone on here remembers him I'll be bloody amazed
Probably not. Halliday took 101 games to reach 100 goals for us. After that he must have gone off the boil a bit Johnny Campbell (1890-97) scored 133 in 186 and we've had plenty of solid goal every other game players.
Keith Bertschin. Made a habit of scoring against us, then couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo when he played for us. Brett Angell Bruce Stuckey Lee Chapman Frank Worthington Majestic player, but not at Sunderland David Hodgson
To be fair, Danny Dichio did chip in with some key goals for us, but what a waste of money Flo was and as for Nunez, saw him play in an FA cup tie against Bristol Rovers. Needless to say, he got hooked at half time for Super Kev. Never saw him play for us again, which was no surprise!
