Whilst I understand your argument, let's look at realities. We have not had CL football under this ownership. Revenue has been generated at a far faster rate than our competitors without any CL income. The aim of CL football has to be there - but not at any cost. Yes we have been aggressively engaged in a cost-cutting exercise but how many vital players have we lost? We probably won't achieve a CL place this year - though I'm optomistic that we won't be far off. We therefore have the opportunity to develop our side so that we are ready for CL football the following season without having to spend silly money. That is Rodgers task but he has been blessed with a golden legacy of homegrown players.
He has been blessed with the young players, and so far his own signings have been impressive. I can't fault any of them. Lets see how Brendan Rodgers gets on with some real money.
If you look at his signings, there is a common theme - they are technical, young and hungry. I will wait until after the season before I can make a more accurate decision but so far so good.
