Having re-read you post, I've realised we're approaching this from different points of view... you're saying if Ellis sells up he has to accept whatever he can get for the company (which may be lower) - but that's assuming he's desperate to sell.

I'm approaching it as a Newcastle fan, that is Mike Ashley we're to convert his debt to equity, I'd be gutted because it'd mean we'd never get rid of him as someone would have to find sufficient cash to buy the debt free firm at Mike Ashley's valuation, which would be a nightmare, as Ashley would hold out for every last penny!...

Yeah see my above post, we're thinking from different perspectives. I have also been in practice by the way, ACA qualified now though so went into tutoring, means I have to stay close to the theory on it, so pretty sure my points are valid.

have to agree with joker on this one what he has done is pay off our debt with interest free loans from himself so the money we owe is to him,the only good thing he has done is make them interest free thus taking away the threat of administration and i'm sure as soon as he's got his money back he'll hopefully sell up and **** off to where he came from

It's a quote from a Monty Python sketch circa 1970.

Ashley doesn't want paying back? Come on you can't really believe that . He's paid the debt off with an interest free loan to the club from himself . . . Making the club effectivley debt free but I'm sure when he sells up the debt re payments will be back and payable to mike! . . . . Thats sounds more sensible than giving 200m away

A bit bitter there sid me thinks. The SAFC problem is that theyve just bought loads of **** players again and have ignored the problem lefg back position.
