Ok,im pissed and at a wedding in the middle of norway but just have to say one. Thing We Will never Get the credit we deserve until we kill all the bias Cardiff centered media!! Ok back to the wedding and norweigen drinking songs..skål !! PS Im so glad i was born a Jack !
Well put Cling. I was going to post to the oppening comment but thought I'd piggy back this. It's a great accolade for the swans that should be celebrated empirically. Unfortunately the bitterness from both boards means that Ivor, rather than opening with 'wow, what an accolade' had to open with 'this'll piss Cardiff off'. No wonder JH spends so much time over here. Celebrate what it does for you positively guys rather than looking at how it could be negative to us. You've got your self into a great position despite the turn-over in managers. Hopefully you've found another that can keep up the tradition. Just hold onto him this time. Adapting a famous saying, 'losing one manager is unfortuneate, losing 3 managers is careless'. Good luck for the coming season and be positive.
"No wonder jh spends so much time over here". He doesn't spend any time "over here" since he was, mercifully, banned some time ago. So you have him,and his foul postings, all to yourself. Lucky you. If I can borrow, and slightly amend, your "famous saying",viz,"losing one play off opportunity is unfortunate, losing as many as you have is not just careless,it's...?" "Good luck for the coming season and be positive",same to you.
Managers have gone in recent times because they've proved successful with us and have almost always gone on to bigger things. Nothing careless about it.
remote, I opened the thread with those words because I had just come from a site where the vitriol from Cardiff fans towards us was flowing faster than cum in an orgy. I never get involved in Cardiff baiting, life is too short, and I believe in what goes around comes around. My remarks were directed solely at those people and their ilk. I am mature enough to judge and like people for what they are. In other words I would sooner be in the company of a decent person who supports Cardiff than a complete tosser who supports the Swans - I'm talking about people and not the clubs, you understand. Feelings run high between the fans of both clubs and, whilst I take great delight in the upward spiral of the Swans, I do not need to feed off the problems at other clubs, including Cardiff. I don't do gloating. I am aware, and pleased, that a number of decent Cardiff fans come on this board, people such as yourself and clingo and you can take it as read that it would never be my wish to cause offence to any of you. But, as for the other kind, perhaps it is best left unsaid...........
My appologies Ivor, I think I'm being overly sensitive. It is becoming increasingly difficult to contribute to threads on our board let alone yours. Even my reference to an Oscar Wilde quote was misconstrued by Vetch who turns it into a dig. Hey ho. I agree with you that life is too short for some things and while I'll 'have a pop' when in the mood, don't see the need to descend into the angst ridden threads that pervade both boards. As I said, Swansea should be proud of what they've acheived in the last 10 years and how. Some posters need to enjoy it for what it is rather than spoil the feeling with negative emotions.
"A dig" is what it was,mr.,an attempt at points scoring. You know it,and I know it. So cut the whingeing there's a good boy. Why not have a chat with swamp, maybe he can have my post removed.
Ivor what on earth are you doing? can you please leave the winding up of the 'RedBluebirddragon SoulessCrew TingTong tarts' to me please! your co-operation would be greatly appreciated!...... Bloody hell I missed your opening dig!................ PS: By the way Ivor, I have edited my first post, as I rushed it, on the way out to a Barby! Sorry mate, and be careful with those RedBluetarts.............
Will he ****. Any "foundations" Martinez put in he tried to rip out when he left. The board are responsible for our style of play. Martinez was just the tool (and what a tool he proved to be) they used to implement it.
Couldn't agree more , martinez was calculating in what he tried to do when leaving us , we're beyond him now ,I can't give enough praise to the Board who have had the vision and the ability when required to learn from both their and others mistakes .They're the true heroes imo
Sorry Lone, but I can't agree with that, if you are trying to say that the pen pushers in our board room had it all planed out, to go Barcelona style after Jacket left, then your deluded and in fantasy land, that was down to Martinez and Not Jenkins or anyone else on the board at Swansea city, I don't mind giving praise or otherwise when it's due to Jenkins and our board, but what you've just stated is pure fantasy!..............
agree with this, lets not forget the way he almost destroyed us, yes he did good work but also undone everything too the guy after hwas tasked with keeping us in the division, it wasnt pretty but it was a job well done, remember the injury crisis as well, Bobby brown shoes had pratley playing injured and all kinds of other loose ends, there was also the unsettling of rangel, bodde, britton etc also stealing the family silver and taking the likes of scotland and to a lesser degree gomez Say what you like about brenden rodgers but he has shown more respect for our club than martinez ever did..and he left for a proper club in Liverpool not a two bit nothing smaller club like wigan!! I can forgive Brenden but never RM until he comes out and apologises for the way he treated our club after we took him off the scrap heap of playing non league with chester to glory and a career with the swans, he never even thanked us for any of that. anyway all old news but thats my personal view
It's all in the public domain fella. There's been plenty of interviews with Huw Jenkins about how the club specifically decided that we would play a certain way and recruit managers accordingly. The only "fantasy" on display is from those who still try to give that sneaky little ****bag credit he's not due.
lets be honest here it was martinez who started the style we play, there is no doubt about that and we owe him our gratitude immensely. when he left he never ripped the heart out of the side at all...all he took was some of his backroom staff that nearly every manager tends to do and he took Jase the ace who failed at wigan big time, you cant count gomez because he was not our player. I have a lot of gratitude towards brown shoes for what he started and he will always be a hero in my eyes......
I agree with whatever Superswan is calling himself now we got £2m for jace and that again for martinez and plus extra for the backroom people. Brendan has just taken a few with him now and we have also been rewarded with a great sum of money for our troubles. Martinez was largely responsible for our style of play, total football ! Jackett didn't have us playing that way, so together with the board we have a great ethos at the club, that is why laudrup came to us.
Under Jackett we got the ball a lot quicker to the forwards by bypassing midfield and hoping Akinfenwa and Trundle could hold the ball up long enough for the midfield to join in. It was Martinez that started this style of football off, it's just that the board bought into it from the start. What I heard was that as a player if things were going wrong on the field the players would ignore Jackett's instructions and listen to what Martinez was telling them to do. Jackett didnt like it and thats why he shipped Martinez out to Chester. When Jackett left all the players wanted Martinez back and the rest as they say is history . So to conclude, again I have to say that Dai is right.
Well said Dai, of course it was Martinez, and pretty much most Jacks would recognise that, to say that this was some master plan by Jenkins is ridiculous, yes he appointed Martinez, probably on a good interview, that focused on cheap players from Spain, and improving our game plan, and Lone Ranger would never convince me otherwise, like to see the evidence of his fantasy here, and where he's got this one from. It's fair to say too that some need to move on from the bitterness of Martinez!................. PS: Anyone read Ferdinand's remarks on Swansea City, on Twitter?................................
You try and find any statement from any of the Swansea city board members prior to appointing of Martinez that we would be going Barcelona style, and I'll eat my laptop! fact is even after we started to get comments from the fans and media on our developing style under Martinez, the board and Jenkins where slow to grasp the magnitude of what he was doing, so forgive for not buying into this bull!..............
