Problem is, every year the Championship gets harder and harder because so many more clubs get parachute payments and the money they get is even more then it was last time you went down. Obviously you guys will be the biggest and richest club in the league so will have an advantage in terms of players you get in, but that just gives teams an extra incentive to beat you. Best case scenario for you guys is Burnley & Hull go up or the competition at the top is going to be massive.
Mitro, Arma, Ayoze, Toney and perhaps bring in Chris Martin (not that one) and I'd be well confident in our striking options. For the midfield we can have Sameobi, Rolando, Jonjo, Colback, Townsend to build around. Defense we have Dummett and Lascelles to build around and also maybe promote Kyle Cameron and Kevin Mbabu. Goalkeeping depo looks pretty sound at that level with Elliot, Darlow and Woodman
I thought he looked brilliant when he played one game for you guys (might have been his debut, against Chelsea?). THink he had Hazard in his pocket all game.. know he's young so will be inconsistent but has he played much for you guys since?
The more I think about it, the more I think relegation will be good for us. Purge the ****e out of the club, buy a few key players (but don't let Carr pick them) and there are lots of players there in the squad who will do well in the Championship. Mitrovic will tear that league up.
No, he's been a little unlucky with injuries. But when I have seen him play he seems pretty well rounded, I could imagine him growing into either a sound full back or perhaps an anchorman role. Edit: Speaking of fullbacks, our Dutch right back Daryl Janmaat is technically and physically and nationally the same player as your old boy Jan Kromkamp. I swear it's creepy how similar they are on the pitch.
big mistakes when will nufc ever learn ,,, ..a good defender is as important as a good attacking player ..why did they not fork oot the millions on defenders first .. i made a thread about this at the start of the season ..start from the back first .quality .ones pay the money ...but no they gave the hair bear bunch an extension on his contract ..the person that made that call ...needs fired straight away one of the worst calls i have ever seen in football ..the man was finshed 3 years ago
I think it is certainly important to be thinking positively, but make no mistake the ideal situation would be to purge from the Premier League.
I will never understand the logic behind this. You can stay up and still sell players you know, plus you have the benefit of the TV money to buy new players with..
Just saw this on the Chronicle. Would love to have Medhi back, was really disappointed he didn't get more of a chance and that the clubs staff couldn't see the potential there. Apparently open to a return regardless of which league. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/mehdi-abeid-wanted-top-european-11143789
I can see a lot of similarities between the squad we have now and the squad we had back in 08/09. Our perceived 'better' players will leave (Owen, Viduka, Martins) Gini, Sissoko, Perez, Janmaat. The british core of our team that has yet to establish themselves as key players (Nolan, Barton) Shelvey and Townsend will unlikely have a queue of potential suitors lined up and could end up staying to help with the promotion push. Then you have the foreign players who, whilst they may not want to stay simply don't have a choice due to lack of options or our tough negotiating (Colo, Enrique). I think Mbemba and Mitrovic are two players that could fit into that category. Don't forget about our young Geordie striker Armstrong who will hopefully have a similar impact that Carroll had during his break out year in the Championship. Players sold would hopefully generate enough cash to buy some much needed defenders and with Shelvey and Townsend creating the chances for a potential forward line of Mitro and Armstrong we can return to the PL at the first time of asking.
Been thinking about this and I think if we go down we'll probably end up with Thauvin back (actually if we stay up as well). He'll get kicked a bit but he'll rip some of those defences apart. Another one that will have found his level.
