I heard a media muppet on Talkshite's Press Pass say zonal at Liverpool was a disaster. Three Golden Gloves for Reina when Cech and VDS had one each is the kind of disaster every team would love to have. Most of the muppets don't even know Rafa had different types of zonal depending on whether a corner was in-swinging or out-swinging, etc How bizarre that Rafa and Kenny were vilified, as two of our most successful managers, while the darlings of the media are Hodgson and Rodgers, the two least successful.
At the time we had Aurelio injured, and Dossena/Insua as backup. Dossena was terrible at the time and Rafa chose to play Insua week in week out. A good man-manager would have still rotated them more to ensure his youth prospect didn't burn out. That's a bit different to Brendan. If Sterling/Suso get worn out Rodgers can replace them with about 3 players for a while. Rafa did give us some gems and I'll happily thank him for that, but I still stand by my opinion that they would never have been played (bar injuries) and they would have been wasted.
We need to keep signing up youngsters. I know we've signed up Danny Ward, Alex O'Hanlon & Ibe last season but we need to keep bringing them in
****ing lol at the sig by the way. Think we can sneak a few barca and Madrid youths? I'll take some bilbao as well.
I hate that, zonal marking is brilliant IMO and once Rafa had the players understanding it we were solid at the back.
